You want the vice-presidential debate? Here it is.
Apples and Oranges

Democratic Vice-Presidental Candidate Senator Joe Biden, at the Democratic National Convention:

As we gather here tonight, our country is less secure and more isolated than at any time in recent history. The Bush-McCain foreign policy has dug us into a very deep hole with very few friends to help us climb out. For the last seven years, this administration has failed to face the biggest forces shaping this century: the emergence of Russia, China and India as great powers; the spread of lethal weapons; the shortage of secure supplies of energy, food and water; the challenge of climate change; and the resurgence of fundamentalism in Afghanistan and Pakistan, the real central front against terrorism.

In recent days, we've once again seen the consequences of this neglect with Russia's challenge to the free and democratic country of Georgia. Barack Obama and I will end this neglect. We will hold Russia accountable for its actions, and we'll help the people of Georgia rebuild.

I've been on the ground in Georgia, Iraq, Pakistan and Afghanistan, and I can tell you in no uncertain terms: this Administration's policy has been an abject failure. America cannot afford four more years of this.

Republican Vice-Presidential Candidate Sarah Palin, Governor of Alaska for about 18 months, and former mayor of Wasilla, pop. 6000:

I've been so focused on state government, I haven't really focused much on the war in Iraq.

6. Yeah, just watch--Joe Biden is gonna lose the debate
because the M$M-backed moderator's questions will only be about fashion and cooking tips. :eyes:

7. It won't be that he will lose the debate, it is just that the questions will NOT be focued
on the issues

I am sure you remember ABC and their shameful debate moderating between Barrack and Hillary

They were only interested in pursuing gossip and inuendo, not the problems facing the country

9. If I am not mistaken the VP debate is on PBS...
While PBS is far from perfect they at least make an attempt at real journalism so I would expect the debate to focus on real issues. Of course in the end the pundits will pick it apart and they tend not to be too concerned with substance. As long as Palin doesn't screw up royally I predict they will declare her the winner only because they set her expectations so low.

13. The one thing Biden should not do is condescend on this woman.
it will make her a victim. I hope they are smart enough not to do that.

2. She is, however an expert on Foreign Affairs
as I heard on my tv Alaska is right next to Russia, so she knows everything there is to know.

10. One right-wing blog is praising her for preventing a Russian invasion of Alaska
Let’s face it at 72, McCain is an extra order of bacon from having a fatal grabber. If he does Palin will become the country’s first woman President. Her nearly 2 years of experience as governor of a state with a population bigger than all, but 17 cities in this country. As it was pointed out on Fox News today, Alaska is next to Russia and she has managed to avoid any kind of invasion or undo Russian influence unlike Georgia. She has also brings her expertise at culling the reindeer population to the lower 48.

The guy who writes this blog trolled on DU for a short while before he was tombstoned and I had some interactions with him. This guy insists that he is dead serious, this is not satire it is just pure right-wing stupidity.

5. more to the point - what will the debate be about?
any of Palin's "positions" will be cribbed from mccain's talking points.

if asked why obama/biden aren't attacking palin - they reply "we are, her positions are the same as mccain's which are the same as bush. it's like watching a cookie cutter at work..."

8. Q1: Gov. Palin, that sure is a big flag pin. Tell us how much you love America.
Q2: Sen. Biden, that flag pin is smaller than Gov. Palin's flag pin. Why don't you love America as much as her?

He'll do fine. The Delaware republicans put up a Palin clone against him in the past.

12. Yes, but: The media/Rethugs are going to MUZZLE Biden, accuse him of BEATING UP on her, like onShrub
They did that to GORE vis a vis Shrub--"Oh, big bully GORE better not trash poor little Shrub."

Tweety did it during the California recall, fixing his snake-eyed look (his meanest, the one he used when he performed the execution of DONAHUE). He said that the Dems were going to trash Ahhhnuld, and he did the eye thing into the lens and said, menancingly needless to say, "They'd BETTER NOT!1"

14. She needs asked if she knows what a VP does yet.
I hope the debate starts out like this. "Governor Palin, what are the duties of the Vice President of the United States and what makes you qualified for the position?"
