Here Come The Memes
We don't watch a lot of TV. So the commentary, even on PBS, is kind of getting to me.

Here are the things I'm already sick of:

* BUT THE PARTY IS DIVIDED!

Despite the fact that they can't actually find anyone on the convention floor who is not supporting Obama, they just keep driving it home that all the Clinton voters are disgruntled and it's all dicey whether they'll support the nominee or not. I know a total of one actual Clinton supporter who is planning not to vote for Obama in 2008, and even she wouldn't vote for McCain. As for the rest of these mythical disgruntled Clinton supporters who are planning to vote Republican in this election, well, all I can tell you is this: Put them on camera or else SHUT UP about them. I am so sick of the media inventing problems just so they have something to report on.

* Obama's choice of Biden merely underscores how inexperienced he is!

This is the latest Republican talking point about the Biden pick, and I can't tell you how pukeworthy I find it. It's a perfect illustration of how we just will never win in the media under these conditions: attacked if you do, attacked if you don't, attacked with special vigor if you try to correct whatever it was you were attacked for in the first place. You know, gang, you can push that crap if you want, but why pretend to be neutral while you're doing it?

Plus--and I'm just waiting to see someone bring this up--what the hell foreign policy experience did Clinton have before he was elected? Or, as long as we're bringing up past presidents, George W? Or is it that it's only since GWB's presidency that it's occurred to anyone that experience is something we ought to have in a president, seeing as this crap is what happens when we elect someone who doesn't have a lick of it? Well, OK, but may I point out that the real problem with GWB is not just that he has no experience, but that he is incapable of LEARNING from it?

:argh:

I'm also starting to get very pissed off about all the "humanizing the candidate" rhetoric. Sure, they talked about this with Kerry, they talk about it with all Democratic candidates. All the same. Why does Obama have to prove he's human? Can we not take that for granted at this point?

:argh:

Still. Michelle Obama did a great job after what I thought was kind of a nervous opening; the kids are just so friggin' cute you can't stand it, and all in all it looks like it'll be a good week for us. But I don't think TV coverage, at least what I've seen, has gotten any better since 2004.

C ya,

The Plaid Adder

1. She did do a great job
I am hoping this is the death nil for the MSM as we know it. They are out of control assholes who for too long have helped destroy our Democracy. They neither deserve the most important job of being the 4th unofficial branch of goverment and to ensure that balance is always present.

Rachal Maddow and Keith Olbermann are but a few bright spots on the blight that we know as MSM.

7. Well, NPR Dragged Out a Whining Delegate This Morning
She went on and ON about Hillary and how important a symbolic vote was until I was ready to go to Denver to slap some sense into her....as if that would help! Maybe Prozac would, or whatever the treatment for Obssessive Compulsive Disorder is...I don't know. Either fish or cut bait, IMP.

8. Doesn't anybody remember how the MSM praised 'inexperienced' Bush for picking Cheney?
It was the most wonderful thing they had ever heard of, and clearly showed Bush's good judgement.

Face it, the republican pundits will say anything to get McCain elected.

As for the media, they have nothing but skepticism for Democrats, and nothing but wide-eyed wonder for all things Republican.

10. Corporate Media Mental Masturbation...
With the exception of Olbermann and Maddow, the rest of the corporate bobbleheads are on a tear...they've been so fed so much crap over the years that is called "conventional wisdom"...the stuff the beltway stenographers chit chat among themselves at their drinkie-drinkie parties that they assume all the rest of us hang on their every word. Many of these "pundits" earned their status on the backs of bashing Democrats that they just can't give it up.

From my scanning around yesterday, I didn't hear any of these bobbleheads talk about Iraq or the economy or the housing mess or the healthcare disaster...all they want is a cat fight and if the candidates aren't willing to provide the action, they'll just make it up.

It's sickening that there were a lot of great speeches last night and all these high-paid assholes can do is ignore what a majority of us consider this election is about cause their egos are more important. I'm so sick of hearing one interview the other...a true definition of a circle jerk.

Cheers...

12. I'm much happier not watching any of it on mainstream U.S. television.
I don't want to be a sparrow digging through piles of horse shit looking for something to eat.

13. No MSM For Me
I watched it on C Span. I saw all of the speakers, and some of the 'unimportant' ones had good things to say. After the ridiculous benediction the TV set was shut off.
I don't want those airheads on the MSM trying to tell me what I heard.
