4. Kind of OT --
But has she mentioned Biden as Obama's VP Pick? Last week she was saying "I want my Biden", so am interested in hearing her response. Thanks. (I've got the MSNBC feed going, otherwise I'd tune in myself.)

10. She said that Obama Biden sounds like a place in Germany
where you have wonderful scenery of the mountains and have a great time.
She is really pumping up the democrats and taking down the right wing.

My DirecTV was updated this morning with new dishes and receivers for free- so no TV.

12. She said we have less than 50 senators (Wrong) and we need at least 60 for a majority
Edited on Mon Aug-25-08 04:01 PM by Breeze54
Unless she meant that Senator Kennedy has been absent lately, we have 51 sitting Senators.

We do need at least 60 for a majority though.

I think she just made a mistake, slip of the tongue. I know she knows the numbers..

15. With Obama gone, if he wins, there will be 50 until the next election, won't
there? Or am I splitting too many hairs? Biden, as the tie breaker, would still be in play it seems.

Obama's seat: Jesse Jackson Jr. willing

http://www.swamppolitics.com/news/politics/blog/2008/08/obamas_seat_jesse_jackson_jr_w.html

Who would be willing to accept an open seat from Illinois in the U.S. Senate?

by Mark Silva

Say Barack Obama gets elected president. Someone would have to fill the seat of the junior senator from Illinois.

Rep,. Jesse Jackson Jr. says he'd take it. "I wouldn't say no if asked," the Illinois Democrat says.

Well no, he serves as a national co-chairman for Obama's campaign for president. But in the past, Congressional Quarterly notes in its report of Jackson's willingness to rise to the call, he has declined to speculate on an Obama Senate succession scenario.

Several of Jackson's colleagues also have been mentioned as possible successors to Obama, should he win the White House. Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich makes the call, with the power of appointment to an open seat.

Tammy Duckworth, a disabled Iraq war veteran who lost a bid for a House seat in 2006, is ready. Reps. Rahm Emanuel , Jan Schakowsky and Luis V. Gutierrez of Illinois could be candidates. Schakowsky has made it clear that she is interested. Emanuel insists he isn't.

Despite the fact that he is more than 20 years younger than Schakowsky, the 43-year-old Jackson has more seniority in the House. Yet, if appointed to Obama's open Senate seat, he would become the chamber's youngest member.

An Obama presidency would also leave the Senate without an African American member, which may, or may not, figure into Blagojevich's decision, Congressional Quarterly notes.
