Are you bored? Looking for something to do?

Why not help my lonely thread out?

In response to a thread about Joe Biden's son and Amtrak, I tried to remember which of Barbara Bush's criminal sons (they all look the same to me) was the one directly linked to the Silverado Savings & Loan scandal (I thought it was Marvin, turns out it was Neil). It was then I realized I had inadvertently discovered yet another link between Bush and McCain (the Savings & Loan mess of the 1980's).

So, if you have some free time fellow DUers: please post in reply as many connections as you can between McCain and Bush!

Thank you!

6. You mean you didn't know about the Keating gang?
Edited on Sun Aug-24-08 03:14 PM by lonestarnot
Yes you did. Did you know that Charles Keating has a grandson who won the olympic swimming stuff last olympic deal, Gary Hall. My kid learned to swim at the pool where he worked out in his size itty bitty speedo. Could hear my kid screaming above all the other kids. I had to leave when they were teaching him. He watched some other little kid raise his hand to pee and he caught on fast. As soon as he saw the pool he would raise his hand and say he had to pee so he could go hide out in the ban~o. I digress. Yes that Keating gang were dandies. McSame was into it up to his neck but managed to slither out without much damage the piece of crap.

9. I'll Do Ya One Better...
Here's one that covers both...

You're refering to Neil boooosh...who not only was at the heart of the Silverado mess, but also later admitted in a messy divorce of having hookers knock on his door...and most recently was making a fortune with "faith based" money being doled out by his other evil spawn...selling textbooks to schools as part of the badly named "No Child left behind".

But if you're looking for something good, there's the untold story of Andrew McCain that sure could use a little "love"

Here's the Huffington Post article:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/jayne-lyn-stahl/andrew-mccain-resigns-fro_b_115233.html

On the eve of President Bush's signing of the housing bill this week, which will regulate, as well as bail out, mortgage behemoth Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and create a $300 billion program to expand the Federal Housing Administration's capacity to guarantee mortgages, comes word that Andrew McCain, son of presumptive Republican nominee, John McCain, has resigned today from Silver State Bank's Board of Directors. The bank cites "personal reasons" for Mr. McCain's sudden departure (Las Vegas Review-Journal)

Andrew McCain was appointed to the Board of the Henderson, Nevada bank in February where he served on the Audit Committee. Prior to coming to Silver State, he was the director of the Choice Bank in Scottsdale, Arizona until its merger with Silver State Bancorp which has 13 branches in Southern Las Vegas, and 4 branches in Arizona, and California.

While, according to Yahoo Finance, construction and land loans make up more than 70% of the bank's lending portfolios, Silver State also lists residential mortgage loans as among its specialties.

"When the casinos treat you poorly, let Silver State treat you like a valued customer" is the bank's declared mission state. Given widespread speculation about the prospect of hundreds of bank failings, a motto like this one is enough to cause the hair on the back of your neck stand up, as well as ask a few hugely important questions.

I haven't seen any follow ups on this...and sure seems to be part of this story that we haven't heard about. Considering what we're learning about Gramp's connections, this one begs to be put under closer scrutiny.

Cheers...

12. You mean the Keating Five Scandal?
http://www.phoenixnewtimes.com/1989-11-29/news/mccain-the-most-reprehensible-of-the-keating-five/1

I keep wondering why nobody brings it up. I was a really big deal, back in 1989 (thereabouts). I was graduating from high school when the shit hit the fan, so to speak. It was big news back then.
