Her family is a bunch of right wing nuts who keep sending her these bogus Obama emails. The latest is the one where they claim he wants to change our anthem to "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing" which snopes debunked here:

http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/stance.asp

It makes me so mad to see this stuff, but she's on vacation and I'm really hoping she isn't too mad. I think she should just tell them to stop sending her this crap, but she doesn't. I sent a nice reply saying I hate to see "false claims being sent about one of our candidates." That's pretty nice, right?

YIKES!!! I hope I don't get fired! :scared:

1. Are you using her email to do it?
If so, that might be a problem. But if she's passing those emails on to you, along with the email addys, she shouldn't be upset if you respond to them.

2. I made it clear that the response came from me
but I read her emails as part of my job- so no, she didn't originally forward it to me.

I want to also forward the debunk to the big list the email went to originally, but I think that would get me in way too much trouble.

If I could figure out how to do it without anyone knowing who I am...

4. I would have said Ms ... is out of the office and that you were screening
her mail. Then add a BTW: This story is false propaganda, then give the link.

8. I would get expect to reprimanded at the least (probably fired)
I agree completely with what you and understand the desire to do so. However, it is her e-mail and you are given viewing rights for reasons that do NOT include responding with your personal views (no matter how altruistic they are).

3. Well, I hope you don't get fired
BUT responding to your boss' private emails is a no no, I would think. I wouldn't be surprised if you are fired.

7. I'd be furious if one of my employees
Responded to my emails without authorization, no matter the cause.

Dang.

11. Yep, as would I
It was a personal email sent to the boss, not a forward from her to the employee either. I would fire someone for that, and I would be fired if I did that as well. It's completely wrong.

6. I just got into an e-mail war with one of the wife's friend's co-workers.
Certifiable 19%er, that one. Witness the descent into madness. I especially love his comment:

oh, more of the “blood for oil” rhetoric. You actually think we are at war so certain people can get rich? You are beyond help.

:wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf:

I swear to God I wish I was making that up. I didn't know what to say. I mean, when you're that unbelievably stupid and naive, the convincing just ain't-a gonna reach you. Anyone with a brain stem can figure out that's why we're ALWAYS at war.

This is the type of real-world education these people have.

13. You should ask why she thinks we are at war in Iraq. To get Osama Bin Laden?
To bomb them into Democracy? To find WMDs? Because they attacked us on 9/11?

16. It's a pasty guy.
And I think he thinks it's because of the 9/11 attacks/WMDs/convert to Westernism reasons.

Yeah, I think a straitjacket is probably necessary also.

12. I Thought It Was "Lift Every Voice And Sing"
I'd reply by asking how he/she feels about Gramps possibly nominating a Jew. Hit "Reply All" and watch the fun begin.

Turn the hate where it belongs...

15. Personally replying to an e-mail that wasn't addressed to you.
IMO you overstepped a boundary. I also check my boss's e-mail when she's away, and the only personal replies I send are those to VIPs that say thank you, she's out of town, may I be of service in her stead? I NEVER respond to her personal e-mails, that's what the autoreply feature is for.

Whether or not you'll get fired depends on the relationship you have with your boss.

17. You overstepped your bounds, yes, but I sympathize with your boss
If she has any intelligence at all, it must drive her crazy. My husband's niece is ex-military and sends these godawful emails to me about Obama's flag pin, emblem on his plane, etc.

I can understand the impulse, though I don't condone the act. (I think you'll be in big trouble, in fact. OR, your boss might be thrilled and give you a raise -- longshot answer.)

When I read emails like the ones she sends (and the ones sent by his other right-wing friends), I get very depressed about America.

19. Update- I got a nice response from one of the people I replied to
Edited on Thu Aug-21-08 01:31 PM by Beaverhausen
and I do have a good relationship with my boss.

I actually send her rebuttals to these emails all the time but I'm not sure how many she forwards on or not.

I also left a very apologetic message on her cell phone - promising never to do it again.

edit- I did try to recall the message but I wasn't able to.

20. Yup, not the best judgment call
But remember that we ALL make some bad judgment calls. Just learn the lesson (no replying to employers' personal e-mails with any but professional response if that's been agreed on before) and get on with your next life adventure. Your bad call couldn't have hurt anyone but yourself, so it's not really bad in a moral sense, except that I can so see you getting hurt.

For what it's worth, I was getting these from a sister, supposedly real Christian cousin and an aunt. I 'replied to all' with facts, resources...my sister and cousin got pissed and I no longer hear from any of them. I was nice, no name calling, so
