McCain Campaign Takes a +3 Vorpal Blade to D and D players
I may be late to the party with this, but here is a great piece on the McSame DnD gaffe. If you have played Dungeons and Dragons be sure to read the comments where people stat out McCain as a DnD character. Very funny stuff.

"Confronting questions about whether John McCain stole an inspiring POW story from the autobiography of a former Soviet prisoner, a campaign spokesman threw out this melee attack against a much-maligned geek pastime:

"It may be typical of the pro-Obama Dungeons & Dragons crowd to disparage a fellow countryman's memory of war from the comfort of mom's basement," said McCain aide Michael Goldfarb, in a posting to the campaign website. "But most Americans have the humility and gratitude to respect and learn from the memories of men who suffered on behalf of others.

-snip-

Naturally, gamers are not amused by the McCain campaign's quick resort to '80s-era cultural stereotypes -- once McCain masters the internet, we're confident he'll contemporize and start bashing video gamers instead. But it does raise the obvious question: If John McCain were a D&D character, what kind would he be?"

1. Pissing on a portion of the youth vote...and the older "geek" crowd.
They vote John... They vote... And many of them are in their 30s and 40s now. They play in their own living rooms. Try to imagine that being a "geek" and getting paid money.

If Gary were alive I wonder if he's say something.

2. McCain lost...
...the older "geek" vote with his ridiculous "suck the RIAA cock" "technology" platform in which he lauds the benefits of oil and is horrified by electricity, the radio, and mimeographic tape. I expect a statement any day now on his condemnation of the 8-track as a "facilitator of homosexual immorality"...

McCain, and his entire f'n campaign, offend me.

6. Wild Bore
Wild Bore
by mike
A lonely old man who having lived in the wilderness for way too long now takes every oppertunity to find someone to talk to and bore them weith the details of his life, what he thinks and having been in the wilderness too long has no idea of what has changed since the last time he surfaced. He once was an elite warrior with high stats but attributes are suffering from age and now is in an accelerated decline on all stats. Special ability, finding reporters to talk to.

7. Man, he is so uninformed ...
If I were going to disparage him, I wouldn't do it from my mom's basement. I would obviously conjure a Mordenkainen's Magnificent Mansion. Doesn't he know anything about being a wizard?

10. I played D&D for years...
I'm not too offended, because I don't really care what idiots with that sort of mentality think about anything. However, I do hope the company that owns D&D should strike back with some kind of McCain joke. Probably won't happen, but dare to dream...
