Elizabeth Dole: Hopping Mad over "Is She 92 or 93?" Ad

Liddy Dole, one of the dimmest bulbs in the GOP, is an increasingly tight fight for re-election to her North Carolina Senate seat. With Democratic candidate Kay Hagan gaining strength in the polls (Hagan is within 5 points in the latest Survey USA poll), the Democratic Senate Campaign Committee (DSCC) unleashed probably one of the funniest and sharpest ads in this election cycle. Seems that Liddy did not take kindly to that ad. Was she mad that the ad points out her dismal effectiveness rating? Did she object to being tied so closely to the poisonous Bush administration? No! She was angry that the ad might lead people to think she is older than her very youthful 72 years! And in response to her objection to the ad, the DSCC drove home the original points with a followup:

Simple arithmetic, really. If the candidate the ad is aimed at is upset, there's a good chance it means bad news for her.

There's one in every commercial break during the Olympic coverage in my middle-NC market. I wonder if they might not be more effective, though, if they indicated that there's this person named Kay Hagan who is running to unseat dim-lizzy. Everyone knows who dole is, and now we all know she sucks eggs' asses as far as effectiveness in the Senate. But these ads give no inkling of who's out there to replace her.

I really hope Dole loses. She is totally ineffective at being a Senator, just like she was when she ran the Red Cross. She seems to be one of those people who enjoys having power but has no earthly idea what to do with it when she has it. I know how hard it is to unseat an incumbent but I'm starting to get a good feeling about Hagan's chances the last month or so.
