Bush: America has no problems
So I'm trying to enjoy the Olympics when they decide to interrupt the fun to interview Bonehead... errr... Bush. Watching Bush talk without a carefully prepared script is always a painful experience.

In bumbling through a discussion on America's relationship with China and how we can deal with them given our own problems, Bush stated he didn't see America having any problems.

Life in Bush's bubble. How comfortable. How grand.

I started shouting in anger when I heard those words. One of the things I can repeat was, "What kind of drugs is he ON?!?"

We didn't know or we would have helped them. It's pretty bad when the Good Samaritan doesn't have anything for you to take home.

Are they OK now? Do they have children? News like yours is so upsetting and depressing. I hope they have better times ahead.

They're two mothers whose kids aren't in their custody at this time. They won't ask us for help or take charity from us but we figured out a way around that, we have a stash of canned goods we keep for when we camp and I'm going to tell them we're done for the year and we're worried about the expiration dates running out before spring.

Neither one of them has medical insurance either.

I'm still upset about this, I mean, fuck, they went to bed hungry, fer christ's sake, and wouldn't ask us for help.

21. That is really terrible. . .
Hmm...they might not take charity, but can you figure out a way to invite them over for dinner? I say. . .invite them one night, make a HUGE batch of something (you know, lasagna, spaghetti, or salad, a large roast - something economical). . .and then feign anger at yourself for never learning how to make that item for just a few people, so there is just way too much extra for your family. And...you won't take NO for an answer - they simply MUST take some of the leftovers or they'll go bad in a few days.

Of course, sometimes they figure out what you are doing, but they are already over for dinner and it's hard for them to refuse a FAVOR by taking the leftovers.

Another thing I've used before is getting extra at a farmer's market and telling them it was given to me, but it is way too much for us to eat.

24. Good ideas!
Especially about the produce, we buy whatever we can fresh from the amish and mennonites and could easily unload a lot of it by claiming it was free and it's going to just go bad if they don't take it off our hands.

Does the rest of America know that people are starving?

Do they even care anymore?

36. Nothing makes me angrier than "proud" people
For God's sake, you're going to bed hungry, and your "pride" is more important than survival? It's even worse when such people make their kids go hungry rather than "humiliate" themselves by going on welfare.

When you're in need, GET HELP!

38. I hear you, and now that we know we can keep an eye on them.
I'm taking one woman to the free clinic in the city on Wednesday - she has a spider bite that is infected and won't heal.

We caught two people sleeping in our ratty old shed in the back yard. My bf gave them a ride to Nashville-it was all they wanted.

It's bad down here, no soup kitchens, no homeless shelters and the local food banks always run out by the end of the month. An old man who is blind in one eye regularly goes through our dumpster so we leave canned food in there for him.

Before I moved in with my bf, It was all I could do to take care of feral cats.

China holds US spy plane crew

US military officials have warned the Chinese not to "seize, board or inspect" the plane without US permission...

Boarded, raided, and the Bushies had to dismantle it and ship it back to the states in pieces.

Oh, that's not true!
The Chinese dismantled our spy plane for us. Reduced it to itty-bitty pieces. And the Bushies didn't ship the plane back, our good friends the Russians transported the pieces. But I'm sure they didn't peek or anything.

19. The US says we're "very sorry" -- now can we get the pieces of our plane back? Pretty please?
American standing tall with George W. Bush at the helm!

The People's Daily:

"US Ambassador Joseph Prueher today handed a letter on behalf of the US Government to say "very sorry" to the Chinese side. As the US Government has already said "very sorry" for the incident in the letter, the Chinese Government has, out of humanitarian considerations, decided to allow its crew members to leave China."

23. Video link here
http://thinkprogress.org/2008/08/10/bush-i-dont-see-america-having-problems/

This evening, NBC interrupted its Olympics coverage of women’s gymnastics for an interview with President Bush. Last week, Bush gave a speech and expressed “deep concerns” with China’s “detention of political dissidents, human-rights advocates and religious activists.” Costas brought up this speech and asked about “America’s own problems.” Bush denied that America has any problems:

COSTAS: This past week, you restated America’s fundamental differences with China. But given China’s growing strength, and America’s own problems, realistically, how much leverage does the U.S. have here?

BUSH: First of all, I don’t see America having problems. I see America as a nation that is a world leader that has got great values.

Watch it:

32. of course Bush doesn't think America has any problems.
He is living the good life.. he is very well off financially, was born in to a wealthy family so he never had to see how the other side lives. He hasn't had to deal with the pain over 4,000 families have suffered losing a loved one in Iraq, because his daughters are too chickenhawk to go. And Bush is obviously not among the majority of Americans who were better off eight years ago than now. So, in Bush's mind, as long as he doesn't have any problems, screw the rest of the country! America is just fine!

The Boy in the Plastic Bubble, indeed.

Our president cannot form a coherent sentence, he's spent America into an insurmountable morass of debt, his decisions have all been failures and the only reason he's where he is today is because of high-connected, well-monied plants in all positions of the political circus.

Can we end this farce already?

Can this nightmare PLEASE fucking END?

But then it isn't a problem for the man living in a White House bubble. We pay all of Dubyah's bills. He has no clue what the price of things are. He has no clue Americans are getting squeezed as he lives the good life. The silver spoon has never left the spoiled boy's mouth.
