11. You just made that up
Why not just say Karl Rove owns it?

The reality is that Murdoch has nothing to do with the Enquirer/

12. Uh, NO, Murdoch does not own it, stop lying.....
The National Enquirer is owned by American Media Incorporated, which is owned by David Pecker.

7. Who cares?
They found the story and ran with it, and despite all the cries of BS from around here they were right.

8. No idea, but it seems to be a more trusted "news" source than most these days.

I guess if you are a public figure, you're game. I just feel sad. I love the Edwards' and don't want to see their lives dragged through the mud by the salacious media.

10. Nope. It was owned by Roger Altman, who worked in the Clinton administration.

And was said to be purchased by Bill Clinton's friend Ron Burkle.

http://www.mediabistro.com/fishbowlny/newspapers/ron_burkle_close_to_finalizing_american_media_purchase_70684.asp

If WWD is to be believed, Ron Burkle is close to finalizing his purchase of American Media Inc.:

So what would the allegedly press-shy Burkle want with Shape, Star, the National Enquirer and Men's Fitness? Well, perhaps not a lot. His interest appears mainly to be in AMI's magazine distribution company DSI, the purchase of which would make Source Interlink one of the largest magazine distributors in the country. Sources close to the deal expect Pecker to become head of the new company, despite a very rough patch over the last few years that included falling rate bases and restated financials at AMI.

Meet your new National Enquirer generalissimo.
