Prince Chunk finally gets a new home, and a clean bill of health

Prince Chunk has a new castle.

And the 44 lb.-cat's new owners will be happy to know that he's got a clean bill of health.

He's just fat. Very fat.

"Aside from being grossly obese, the cat is completely healthy," Catherine Harr, board president of the Camden County Animal Shelter, declared yesterday after Chunk's blood test results were reviewed. "No diabetes. No thyroid problem.
Nothing. He was obviously overfed."

Chunk's flawless test results came as a southern New Jersey family was selected to take in the portly pussycat who has captivated the nation. The anonymous family has two cats of their own and are elated over the news they landed the 10-year-old tabby.

"The father is actually building Chunk a castle over his litter box," Harr said. "He'll definitely be treated like a prince."

The un-finicky feline wound up at the Camden shelter two weeks ago after his owner, Donna Oklatner, of Voorhes, N.J., lost her home to foreclosure.

A whirlwind media tour followed as more than 500 cat-lovers applied to be Chunk's new caretakers. When they were informed the prized kitty was off the market, none agreed to accept any of the shelter's other homeless cats, Harr said.

Chunk has been put on a weight loss and exercise program by his vet. The animal doctor also prescribed a high-protein, low carbohydrate diet.

He has been living with a second foster family for the past few days after the media attention became too much for his first temporary caretakers.

"Chunk's current foster family said that he wants to eat everything - no wonder he's 44 pounds!" Harr said.

His fatness will move into his new castle next week.

1. "none agreed to accept any of the shelter's other homeless cats" WTF!?
Despicable.

500 cats could have been adopted.

I fucking hate people sometimes.

9. Well, if they only want a cat that's a celebrity, and any other just isn't
good enough, the cats are better off in the shelter.

Trust me. I know a good cat owner when I see one, and that attitude is an instant disqualifier.

2. Jeez, ya gotta love that critter.
I'm terribly allergic to cats, but that guy bowls me over.

I hope he lives forever.

So if they couldn't get the fatcat not one of these assholes would adopt a kitty?
:grr: :grr:   :grr:

edit: maybe it's just as well...none of them would have made a good pet for those kitties anyway.
:grr:

5. Not one of the 499 other contestants for the cat would take another
homeless cat--why? Because they wouldn't be famous as the Fat Kitteh's new owner? Fuck 'em all, they don't deserve a pet.
