Bob Costas, on his 12-hour tape delay, said "Probably, they're talking about the ceremony."

Um, I doubt it.

Putin probably brought up the just-ensuing war in Georgia--I bet you that's the first time Bush heard about it.

3. lol, i know
I wish there was a camera on them all the time. I really wonder if the two of them actually sat there the entire time or if they got up and had a chat in the hall. because I bet if Obama were president now, he'd get up and lead Putin into a closed room the minute he found out about it.

4. I think it would be much
more dignified if they would leave the games and go have a little chat...or at least make it look like they are real leaders who give a shit....but after 7+ yrs I know better...it would just be nice..once...

5. this is like a surreal movie
a war has broken out...two major leaders sitting in silence all while a bombastic musical production is going on. In real life the president gets up, points to the Russian Prime Minister, says 'let's go,' they sit in a closed room working out a cease fire while the bombastic show goes on without them.

7. it had, it was almost timed that way
I've heard it speculated that Georgia was waiting for this to start their offensive. And i was definitely reading about the fighting while the ceremonies were going on live.

9. Why Don't.......
Why don't you and he go fight a war... and I'll sit here and watch? We'll pour tax money into military equipment and make a huge profit. After all, there are no jobs at home, and all these young people are just getting in the way. And,you know, they might get "uppity". What if they start demanding their rights and want to have babies and raise families and live happy lives and all that other American Dream Nonsense? Just think of all the young people we can get rid of.. all we have to do is wave the flag and tell them they are not "patriotic" enough, and they will have to join. I love it when a plan comes together.

10. they just showed him again, he looks thoroughly bored
and uncomfortable. Pretty pathetic, slumped in his seat and checking his watch. Meanwhile other leaders are shown sitting up straight with their suit jackets still on.
