Colonel Lang (ret.) says - if Suskind's book is true, House Judiciary Committee should Impeach...
http://turcopolier.typepad.com/sic_semper_tyrannis/2008/08/the-suskind-boo.html

Suskind argues that this charge, if proven, would constitute a "High Crime." I agree. "Reasons of State" may be an excuse for such behavior in some polities, but, it is clear that it is not in the United States.

President Bush is called a liar and a law-breaker in this book. The charge is that he, personally, ordered some documents forged and others ignored in order to lure the American people into support of a foreign war. These are charges that make Bll Clinton's difficulties with his libido look rather trivial.

The charge is so serious that Bush deserves an opportunity to clear his name of the accusation. Therefore, the House Judiciary Committee should meet to consider a bill of impeachment. Anything less will leave a stain on Bush that will follow his family name down through the ages. pl

Note: I know Ron Suskind fairly well and respect both him and what I have read of his work in the past. I have not discussed this book with him although we have talked about the general direction of his work.

1. they'll never do it.
I'm curious to see what my history textbooks in ten years say about this period, though.

6. Congress will not Impeach this Pres or VP.
It is possible to charge them both after they leave office. Bugliosi has mounted the case of Murder on the Pres. The evidence is becoming overwhelming on both the Pres. VP, Rumfailed & other Regime personnel for charges of War Crimes.

7. Brilliant argument: "Bush deserves an opportunity to clear his name."
Hahahahahaha hee (as if that were possible). But that's the way to frame it to forestall accusations of seeking revenge. I love it!

10. Yeah. That line stood out at me. It was soo odd. It's Karl Rove-esk.
It would be a great way to "sell" the issue, to get SOMETHING started on Impeachment in the House.

We're not trying to rightfully hang this SOB for his war crimes, we're merely giving his excellency, Mr Bush, an opportunity to "clear his name"..........it's brilliant.

8. Impeachment isn't the only option.
It's not even the best one at this point. What would we gain, a few weeks of Cheney as President? What Bush is accused of is treason, which carries the death penalty for any citizen.

9. Impeachment should include both Bush and Cheney.
However, what would we be left with? Madam President Pelosi? That too is pretty scary.

Less than six months to go.
