I invite your comments, raspberries, and other walks to the woodshed!

Thanks much to my fellow brothers and sisters in this DU oasis.

I salute you!

:patriot:

And thanks for helping to cheer me up. I've been feeling kinda glum about political things lately.

4. Ummmm, no, you're on grubstreet.ca
I don't know if that's better or worse than being on grubstreet.com, but that's where you are.

No criticism implied, because I'm sure it was an honest mistake. I've made thinkos like that many times in the past, and I'm sure I'll make many more of them in the future. For example. there was the time I told somebody that Dick Cheney was a bastard, when what I actually meant to say was that Cheney was an evil fucking psychopathic bastard who deserves to burn in Hell for all eternity for his crimes against humanity. :)

6. Understood.
Well, I got the first part correct/correctly (Miss Priss is not entirely sure of her grammar today).

These people were really sweet. Darling young girl interviewed me. I'm mostly just another bum from the neighborhood, but they made me feel like royalty!

5. But whether it was grubstreet.com or grubstreet.ca, it was a hell of a good article
Marred, only very slightly by the bad transcription which led to one paragraph being dupicated and part of another paragraph being duplicated.

Despite that minor quibble, you are rightly entitled to feel very proud. It was a wonderful article.

Oh, one thing. Are you sure that rubber shingles don't burn? I occasionally see reports of rubber car tyre fires releasing clouds of toxic smoke, so I think they do burn. You might not be able to light them with a match or cigarette lighter, but I think a Californian wildfire would do the trick. But that's just speculation and I'm happy to take your word if you say that this stuff has been tested by UL or whoever and rated as non-flammable.

7. They start to smolder ever so slightly after you hold a flame directly on them for several minutes.

We tried it ourselves. Took forever to get some smoke started. They're fire resistant. MUCH better than the wood shake roofs so many houses in So Cal had for so long. There was quite a bit of planning in regard to fire, 'cause fire is SUCH a big deal in the canyons and hillsides all over this poor parched state. Things like minimal exposed wood and the use of other materials that are fire resistant. It's the flying embers floating down from overhead that kill.

Shit - almost forgot - Welcome to DU!!! :hi:
