Am I really the only one so cynical, that I view the M$M's recent willingness to criticize McCain
as nothing more than another sign that McCain *won't* be the nominee after the convention?

Gives them an opening to *pretend* to be at least a little less biased than they so clearly are... since they know it won't affect the outcome.

I hope I'm just being cynical and paranoid. We'll see...

McCain bows out for "medical" reasons.

JEB BUSH becomes the nominee, and picks
CONDI RICE as the VP.

I know it's far-fetched, but I won't be surprised.

4. That's your biggest nightmare?! That's my happiest dream!
Obama would win by something like a 200-point gap in the electoral college. It would be brutal. Christ, I PRAY that that happens.

16. That too!
But if it's a landslide, then that's a little harder to get away with.

Easier to see a landslide against McShame / another Bu$hco subsidiary than a landslide against Mitt Goodhair. For me anyway.

You think McCain comes off, potentially (when Obama gets around to actually criticizing him, harshly, which he will) as a lame-o flip-flopper?

Mitt's about a dozen times more vulnerable.

Oh, and there's this scandalous video, he's speaking french!

Thank you so much... that 'AN-croy-ah-bluh!' made me lol. :)

And yeah... of course he is, but he's still more marketable than McShame or Bu$hco 3.0 IMO.

2. Aside from truly, extremely serious health problems...
there is no chance in Hades that McCain won't be the nominee. Shutting him out in place of someone else in time for the RNC in Sept. would be a colossally stupid mistake. And say what you want about the GOP, but in terms pof short-term campaigning, they are far from stupid. (Long-term health of the party is something else altogether, and something which they've obviously sacrificed in favor of short-term, futile gains.)

6. If legitimate, sure.
There's not a chance that McCain would step down for some conspiratorial reason. He would actually have to have serious skin cancer. And while it would be really awful if that happened (I may disagree with McCain, but he's hardly the worst of the GOP and I sure don't wish anything that bad on him.), it would practically seal a victory for the Democrats. A new nominee couldn't just step into the campaign on the ground running. The disarray such a move would cause would kill what little chance the GOP already has.

should the Republics "win" another election. I suspect that McCain will fall ill shortly after the swearing in.

9. McCain will be the nominee
The GOP already knows this election is lost and they aren't even going to make a serious attempt. No one with a future career in politics will dare run this year as it would be suicide.

Sort of like Dole in 96 and Mondale in 84. Trot out someone who is ready to retire, put up a semblance of fight and wait until the next REAL opportunity.

Anyone who's seen McCain's "Paris Hilton" ad and still thinks the Republicans are really trying to win this election is simply beyond help.
