Why are we not outraged at being under attack?
The poor right wingers are always crying and whining about being attacked and persecuted. This guy who shot up the Unitarian Church says it was, specifically, an attack on "Liberals".

Coulter, Malkin, Savage, and others are forever fomenting rage against us.

Where's the outrage?

8. I try to keep it under control. :-)

I keep the MLK avatar next to my name to remind me to behave. I try very very hard not to write anything that he'd be disappointed in.

As far as anger goes about this guy, I'm waiting for more information. And there's nothing I can do about it once the info is available. I can howl about the hateful things said by the fascist media that he liked, but that doesn't fix anything.

9. Why do you assume the OP wants a panicked or violent response?
How about going after their advertisers.

How about going after them in court. If we can hold groups like the KKK, Aryan Nations, and World Church of the Creator responsible for inciting hate crimes, then why can't we hold these assholes responsible?

12. I asked what they were looking for, and they replied.

All an attempt at a court battle will do is create free advertising about how the liberals are trying to stifle their Constitutionally protected freedom of speech.

If you think an advertiser will leave the source of customers over this, I think you're mistaken. How many people get the public eye, advertisers leave for a short time, and their back on the air in no time?

13. Because we have been under siege for so long that we almost expect it now.
For the minority, there is no luxury of standing there being outraged. There is only the reality of continuing the daily struggle against overly powerful opponents waiting for the all-too-common taste of defeat or the rare taste of victory.

When they start shooting up your churches on a daily basis, you're no better off than folks were in Northern Ireland. Pray this country doesn't become as divided as Northern Ireland was and continues to be today.

16. The differences between us & Northern Ireland being divided
is that they were geographically & physically divided, and we're for the most part mixed in together and not separated geographically.

20. True that.
Knoxville, for example, has been trending blue for years. However, the county in which we're entrenched, Knox County, is becoming deeper and deeper red. Our election results by county always show us as "red" around here, but the city isn't - and hasn't been for three election cycles now.

And, this incident SCREAMS this division: the church is in the city and the assailant lived in the county.

15. Because the frog is already cooked?
Because we were under attack long ago but would not acknowledge it, and those who did (exhibiting the proper antibodies to psychopaths) were told to maintain decorum?

Because to mount an offense in response to the war against us would be "unseemly"?

19. Hey Hub... the people who are scared here in Knoxville aren't
the rest of us liberals, if you judge the morning radio talk shows. It's the conservatives. They've been found out to be exactly what we liberals have been saying they were for years, now, and one of their own up and proves us correct.

There was so much gnashing of teeth and liberal-blaming acts of mitigation coming from the regular wingnut callers this morning, it was pitiful... well, it would be pitiful if I gave a shit about them.

:hi:

24. The right-wingers aren't "outraged".
What they are is POUTRAGED. You can't look at their responses and judge what real outrage looks like. I assure you, we're all angry and we're all outraged. We just don't look or sound like them, because our feelings are REAL. Theirs are contrived and posed for maximum effect.
