I find that very disturbing. Can someone explain this?

1. I think it's called
business.....their money spends just fine....I'm a big girl and can tune out the issues that do not concern me.

That is my opinion.

2. Sure, somebody PAID for the ad to be here
and it allows this site to operate and give people a forum to complain about the ads that are here.

3. Ads can be placed on a website based on topics discussed there. . .
so a McCain for President ad could be posted on DU based on the number of references made here to McCain, with no consideration of the reader's opinions or the negativity of those references. So by your reference to the film, you've made it a little more possible for ads for it -- and for similar films and products -- to be posted here in the future.

If you don't want to see them, become a donor to the DU site -- it'll only cost you $5 (maybe less) -- and you'll then have the option of turning off most of the advertising on the site.

Be of good cheer, citizen. That the distributor's of that film waste their money here means someone else (who might find the film of interest) won't see an ad for it and the flick may fade into obscurity that much quicker.
