The test is amateurish. I believe the word campaign was misspelled as "campain." We make similar mistakes in posts, but if you bother to construct a website with a test and try to appear professional and authoritative about the subject matter of the website, you should use spellcheck.

Laws are made by legislatures and administered by judges, often with the help of juries. It gets kind of tiresome to have every flaw in our court system placed on the shoulders of lawyers, who actually have little or no input as to the law, court procedures, or how juries respond to the evidence.

I think that I might have got an even less conservative score if I were answering in a fully American context (e.g. I agreed that federal government was too big, because OUR central government has got too big at the expense of local government; but don't really know the American situation there). Also, in some of the 'whom do you trust more' questions, I didn't trust either!

11 is in-between Hill and Bill? Crazy. They don't go to 11. And Colin Powell is the political center? Colin Powell isn't even in politics. This poll must be way old.

This quiz is meaningless because many of the questions just don't have "correct" (from my lefty point of view) answers provided. So it skews rightward.

to the left or hilary, just right of Kennedy.. I can live with that. I felt SEVERAL questions should have been "depends" I don't like binary answers for complex issues. I admit to being a lil conservative on some things like crime laws. I've never been fall off the chart liberal... BTW.. why is Jesse Jackson 0? I Really don't consider him all that far left, when you look at ALL he stands for.

The question I hate the most is "21. As a society, we should spend more money trying to find a cure for AIDS than for cancer and heart disease because AIDS threatens younger people", as if my compassion for someone should be contingent on how long longevity estimates say he or she has left. I went with "disagree," which I assume bumped my score up a point.
Plus, the "who do you trust more" questions are a mess - what the hell do I check in the cases in which I have no trust for either choice? I probably could have gotten a lower score if I had put any thought into any of them, but those questions were akin to "what tastes better, a shit sandwich on rye or a shit sandwich on wheat?"

Like this question, "Who do you trust more, the FBI or the IRS?" Ummmm..... Neither? I'm sure most people would say neither, give that option. I actually flipped coin to choose an answer to that question. So, yeah, that was meaningful.
An I answered disagree to the AIDS question, too, for the same reason.

For example, the question about bigger government -- What progressive/liberal in his/her right mind wants an intrusive, oversized government that spies on its citizens, or denies them habeas corpus, or slaps them in Gitmo?
Some of those questions are so old that the polarities have switched.

1. I don't know that you can consider your results accurate; there are some questions that don't have the right choice, and the test makers don't necessarily place those politicians correctly on a left-right scale.
2. It could be the typical American misunderstanding of "left;" There is almost NO "left" in the U.S.. What is generally labeled "left, liberal," etc. in the U.S. IS center, globally and historically.

The person's political views can be measured not just by examining his economic positions on economic issues but also his position on how to treat others in society, which holds ramifications on how economic positions are ultimately codified into law as well as social issues.
A left wing authoritarian may agree with me on quite a few issues facing this country, but he's more likely to impose changes through force and terror, and it would be unfair to label me as an authoritarian in the same vane if I prefer to inform people or convince them of my argument and let them decide what to do, as opposed to forcing them to do something that I want.
