Economic Report: U.S. Pays Most For Health Care, Ranks 42nd In Life Expectancy

http://www.laborradio.org/node/9035

Economic Report:

The United States spends more on health care per person than any other country, but we rank 42nd overall when it comes to life expectancy. The average age for life expectancy is 78, up by eight years since 1960, but Americans could be living much longer with a lack of health insurance for 47 million Americans increasing the rate of death from preventable causes. The study also found major discrepancies based on location with people in Mississippi living 30 years less than people in Connecticut.

1. No surprise here.
My brother has no insurance, neither does his wife. She needs surgery, fast. And he's spending his time on the phone trying to find somebody who will do it.

The first place said that they only work on Thursdays and wanted $8000.00 up front.

2. Holy crap. 30 years. I knew there was a significant gap, but damn...
And Mississippi remains as solidly a red state as it gets.

They are literally voting themselves to death.

4. Wonder if that quintessential neocon, Haley Barber, has aided the the early demise of
Mississippians by cutting Medicaid et al? Sorry to have to say it, but the electorate must be comprised to a large degree of either colossal ignoramuses or dyed-in-the-wool true believers to have elected, then re-elected this quintessential 'puke. :D

5. Surely that 30 years is not correct: ten, maybe 12, but surely not 30
