Ick. Is this a random opinion or a blog post from the paper:
This kind of thinking is typical in my area. I was just wondering if it's an opinion from a writer who works for the paper, or just a random opinion from a reader. The first link is definitely an OP from the editorial pages, but I'm not sure about the rest below:

Yeah, so, the Orlando Sentinel editorial page has a column today bashing the St. John's River Water Management District. Here it is:

http://www.orlandosentinel.com/community/news/clermont/orl-ed18108jul18,0,7809389.story

Their whole argument is based around the guilt-inducing philosophy of protecting the 'wildlife' and 'ecosystem' from 'suffering' if too much water is pulled from it for drinking purposes or watering our lawns.

Last time I checked, HUMANS were part of the ecosystem.

Honestly, the water was put there for a reason, just like oil was put in the ground for a reason.

If a few plants and wildlife have to sleep a different direction or find a new place to 'plant' themselves because of lower water levels the only question I have is - who cares?

2. Humans are part of the ecosystem...
in the same sense that a cancer cell is part of its host organism. Both are bent only on invading and destroying their hosts as quickly as possible.

5. Actually, isn't there a scientific model that explains the correlation between
food sources and mortality rates?

6. We called the paper the Orlando Slant-tinel
Since the 70s....... When I went to Florida Technological University now called
the University of Central Florida. Orlando is not known as a refuge for intellectuals.
Is that editorial from the editor or is a guest opinion? I couldn't find that info.

9. Old editor is out, new editor is owner of the Chicago Tribune.
I can't say the old editor was any better. Typical Floridian. Hid the dirty little secrets of the well-connected locals. It's like a crime family down here.

8. God what an idiotic view-point
Sadly it is not that uncommon from the type of people who mindlessly chant the "Humans first" meme and they exist (to a lesser extent thankfully) among liberals as well as conservatives.

11. You would think they would have some sense of reservation in voicing
these opinions in light of the George Bush years. That's why I'm saying that appeasing them with laurel wreaths isn't going to change anything. It's not us that's the problem. It's them.
