By the time everything's said and done, who exactly is left that isn't a corporate mouthpiece? So a small-time video company got a deal with MSNVideo. Isn't that a good thing? Doesn't that mean that the company's videos will now be seen by far more people than would have otherwise? The argument here appears to be precisely the same one used when an indie band signs with a major label, and I find it just as hollow in that case. There is nothing wrong with making money off your art. Indeed, if we castigate every single artist for doing so, then we stifle creativity by dissuading people from entering creative fields in the first place.
