7. In one way, it's already happened

because China has taken over whole industries, ones we'd need to survive a big war and the loss of which will bring us to our knees rather quickly should we face another big war.

There are signs, however, that limited manufacture in some industries is coming back because shipping costs are starting to affect the multinational corporation's bottom line more than manufacturing at point of consumption with more expensive labor does.

As for a Chinese takeover of our government, forget it. China is not an expansionist power, preferring to stay within its borders (and it considers Tibet to be within its borders). They would far rather stick to managing their own country while being in a position to garner the rest of the world's wealth.

12. regarding china and our debt, recent info on dailykos indicated that

2/3 of america's debt obligations are in-country and china actually has just a small slice of our debt, like maybe 10% (trying to recall the info). problem is, 10% of a huge number is also a huge number.
We are their best customer so its in their interest to be nice to us lol

24. Will our eventual overlords be Chinese or just the fabulously wealthy international upper class?

China and India are evolving a class of billionaires with interests throughout the world. They are exercising more and more influence on their own governments because of their financial power. I think eventually they'll have more in common with the moneyed elite in Europe and North and South America than their own countrymen.
