Bush: ``Yo Harper.''
Source: Canwest News Service

...the American president was in a jovial mood.

In a television feed of the event, Bush at one point can be seen putting his arm around Nigerian President Umaru Yar'Adua.

``You're a good man, you're a good man,'' says the president.

Bush then wipes his finger below his nose and calls for the attention of Harper.

``Yo Harper. The president of Nigeria.''

29. The silly part is,
I spent a few minutes actually looking for the bug. I have a DLP set, and bugs actually do sometimes get inside and crawl around on the screen.

It looks exactly like that animation when it happens.

14. How long? How long? How long?
I am so sick of being ashamed and embarrassed by this cretin's antics on the world stage. He is a worthless dry-drunk hick who is completely, totally unqualified to hold any office whatsoever. How could we be so damned stupid as to allow this jerk to ruin everything about our country for eight long years?

I know how to fix things. Let's elect mcSame! Sheesh.

Edited on Tue Jul-08-08 08:49 AM by iverglas

Seriously. ;)

"Yo Harper! The president of Nigeria." Nothing like a little o' them Southern manners! Frat boy.

This write-up actually does it better justice:

http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/reuters/080707/canada/canada_g8_bush_canada_col

It was not the first time that Bush has surprised Harper in public. In July 2006, after the two men met at the White House for the first time, Bush publicly called the Canadian "Steve."

Analysts said at the time this might actually help Harper dispel questions about the closeness of his relationship with Bush, since no one who even slightly knew the somewhat wooden Canadian leader would ever think of him as "Steve."

Bush has since referred to Harper in public as "Stephen."

Asked for a reaction to the "Yo Harper!" comment, Harper's spokeswoman said she had not been at the lunch.

"Somewhat wooden", that's putting it mildly, and that's just the hair. But it doesn't quite convey the "megalomaniac" element. If one of Harper's ministers had addressed him in public with "Yo Harper!", he wouldn't just be on the back benches by tomorrow morning, he'd be on an icebreaker somewhere in the Northwest Passage.

24. Yeah, Harper creeps me out.....
In the Detroit area, we can pick up CBC from across the river in Windsor, so I watch CBC News often. Every time Harper's visage appears on the screen, I feel like I'm watching some humanoid.
