McCain & his camp are about to jump past the deep-end and off the cliff...
According to TPM McCain is about to unroll a new promise of balancing the budget by the end of his first term ... but get this - he does it by "victory spending". Yup - win the two wars and then spend all of the savings on the deficit, since the wars are funded by deficit spending. Oh, and there is a new round of tax cuts as well.

He is gonna win both wars (no mention of Iran), cut taxes and balance the budget all within his first four years! And he jumps tall buildings in a single bound!

The scary thing is contemplating how the fawning media types try to spin this fantasy with a straight face.

1. Kinda reminds me of * in August, 2001, where the surplus was gone in eight months
yet he was saying how his tax cuts would balance the budget.

2. bush made the claim for years... always pushing off in the future by when
the budget would be balanced - usually just after his tax cuts expired.

Here McCain blends the "Mission Accomplished" moment of fantasy with the budget fantasy ... all he needs are promises of visions of sugar plums dancing through all our heads.

3. Does anyone believe a republican president could balance the budget?
When was the last time THAT happened?

4. Worse - he is banking on "Victory" in Iraq and Afghanistan
as the means for balancing the budget. This proposal is far more ridiculous and absurd than the general GOP spin.

10. Good question.
Republicans and "balanced budgets" should never be used in the same sentence. Obviously, they think we are fools.

6. Every republicon that I know personally, has more debt that I have ever had.
Their thinking, uniformly, is that when they die they want to have a ton of debt. Somehow they feel like they have gotten one over on someone or something by being a thousand (insert monetary unit) in debt when they die.

Repiblicons ARE NOT fiscally responsible. I am sure that there are few fiscally responsible republicons out there, but John McLetMeCrashThoseMultiMillion$AircraftForYou is not one of them.

9. War Marshal or President McCain?
Does McCain know that there's more to being president than declaring war or fighting wars?
