Here is a great response to the repuke talking points about drilling. shuts them up fast
Big Oil doesn't need any "environmentalist's approval" to drill where they ALREADY OWN drilling rights.
1)Did you ever think they might not want to spend the money to drill when they are already making record profits?
2)Did you ever think they might not want to increase supply (by finding more oil) which would lower their record profits?
3)Did you ever think that if they wanted to build more refineries (which would increase supply and lower their record profits) that Oilboy Bush or any politician would committ political suicide by standing in their way and becoming the FACE of $4 gas?

If you need a right-wing "pundit" to tell you what to think/who to blame (democrats) on every single issue, it's time to stop being such a Republican. Start being an American again.
Put your big boy pants on and use a little common sense. Be an adult, use your brain!

they change the subject to the war or some other point really fast!!!

1. Good points to use
At least 1 and 2.
When it comes to people bitching about how they are not being allowed to build new refineries I tell them about how the oil companies have shutdown over 150 refineries in the US in the last 20 years.
Hard for them to make a comeback to that.

2. The CEO of Chevron was on Larry King last night
He was trying to spin his way out of some of those exact points. Increase supply, he asks? The problem, says he, is on the demand side. In other words, it's OUR fault he and his cronies are making out like bandits!

The guy was freakin' SHAMELESS.

We do what we can,

hubby rides the bus

I have to drive as my school is at one end of our huge city and our home is at another.

Daughter drives to school and work as our schedules are too different to carpool.

we are stuck in our vehicles as trading now would put us upside down

THE POINT HERE IS not the American People, but the OIL execs and the repuke administration

5. As for building refineries
when they yell that "those damned liberals/enviromentalists/commies etc. won't let them build any new ones" and I've had this happen, remind them that the last oil refinery built in the US was in the mid-1970's. They could have built a few since, if they wanted, then refer to the above points.

6. And furthermore
They had the White House and the Congress for six years. If they thought it was so necessary to drill in ANWR, why didn't they pass it then? Could it be they need that as their only way to try to blame the problem on Democrats?
