3. There may be forced mergers as the economy winds down.
The taxpayers may take some of the garbage assets and try to get something out of them, a la Resolution Trust, but no depositors lose money or access to their money.

It is a sign of serious economic problems and unwise and perhaps illegal banking decisions.

Expect more perp-walks!
