Every BC citizen is getting a $100 "Climate Action Dividend" check... (Stupid Idea)

I like to think of myself as an environmentalist though perhaps like most more in causes I support more than personal actions. I believe in global warming and would even support increased taxes targeted at reducing pollution and fostering alternative energy tech development as has been proposed by many. But the idea that the current British Columbian government has come up with and labelled as a green solution is just laughably stupid. At least when it comes to helping the environment. Every BC citizen is getting a $100 Climate Action Dividend check that the government is encouraging us to spend on green ideas and products. Tada... that's it! WTF? I think I'll go out and buy 100 dollars worth of crude and pour it into the ocean. Why not just call it what this is a very very very thinly disguised version of the US's "economic stimulus checks". If this was really for the environment they should have been vouchers redeemable for a limited number of products specifically targeted to help the environment. Like vouchers for CF lightbulbs, heating insulation, rooftop sollar cells etc etc etc...

Oh well not like I'm going to turn down free money. Always wanted to have dinner at Lumiere down town, maybe I'll try them out this weekend.
