Is it true that no one can stop dick & dubya?
Why should I vote for or support anyone who won't even try to stop dick and dubya? If they won't even try, why should I? If they have surrendered to tyranny and treason, maybe I should too.

If we march by the millions, vote by the millions, and complain bitterly by the millions, and two maniacs spit in our faces with contemptuous disregard, then what the fuck good does it do to resist them?

Millions of pissed off citizens versus two maniacs, what gives? Are we really that powerless as a nation?

Yes, I am impatient. Why? Because all hell is about to break loose, that's why, and absolutely no one is doing anything concrete to stop these two dangerous maniacs.

How long will we let them piss in our faces? HOW FUCKING LONG?

4. I like to think in terms of - "there is ALWAYS a way."
ALWAYS. And at the rate things are going, with a verifiable ROGUE president, a loose cannon, AND his enabler-veep who has declared that they can't be stopped, IMPEACHMENT may be the one inevitable step we'll be forced to take. IMPEACHMENT - AND REMOVAL FROM OFFICE. If they claim they won't be stopped, yet the vast majority of voters AND experts AND legislators on both sides of the aisle feel ever more strongly that they MUST be stopped, the only thing left to do TO STOP them is to IMPEACH them both and REMOVE them both from office.

My husband, for one, has gone from "oh, they'll never IMPEACH the bastard. They can't. They won't be able to. Not enough votes..." to "they HAVE to IMPEACH this bastard. AND cheney. NOW!!! It's the ONLY way to stop this war at this point."

Don't let your fears and concerns limit your thinking. There is ALWAYS a way. ALWAYS think in terms of the realm of the POSSIBLE. The only way to ensure that it can't be done is to THINK that it can't be done.

As Class Warrior would say - NGU! Never Give Up!

6. My optimism is waning.
The only reason I haven't given up entirely and surrendered to the enemy is the fact that I am the kind who doesn't like to give up. But when the two maniacs can go on t.v. and just spit in our faces like that, and no sense of outrage breaks out, then I become further discouraged.

Maybe it's just me that feels powerless.

9. I think the pile-on that's happening now is crumbling the house of cards
more and more every day. We're starting to hear some AWFULLY fun stuff about cheney/libby/rove from the libby trial now. We're seeing more tight sphincters in the Senate and the House - among those who previously were part of the bush/cheney juggernaut and who now have excess stomach acid to deal with for their loyalty. We see Rosie O'Donnell mouthing off FOR IMPEACHMENT on "The View" and the audience CHEERING every time she mentions it. THAT'S Middle America, my friend. We see the polls NOT flipping in bush's favor after the State of the Union, and no waffling republi-CONS stiffening their resolve and marching back onto the reservation. QUITE the contrary.

Understand completely your feelings of powerlessness. But I think the momentum's with US now, and we are on the correct side - AND more people are coming around to OUR side day by day. And I think that's a key reason WHY you even ARE seeing republi-CONS starting to pull away from the White House's stand on Iraq. A year ago today, the kind of debates, declarations, musings, and open arguments you're NOW seeing in the news, and in the committee hearings on CSPAN, would have been unthinkable. NO one would have dared speak out like this in opposition to bush blowing his nose into his open zipper in public, much less wanting to escalate the war. Now, we have all kinds of people sticking their necks out. Know why? Clearly it's because they're getting avalanched in their offices by voiced voter opposition to the war. It's clearly lopsided AGAINST. And they're taking note. It's too soon for memories of the November election rout to have faded. We just got another really glaring reminder of that on nationwide TV in the State of the Union speech, with a new (female) DEMOCRATIC Speaker of the House sitting up there behind bush all evening, plain as day. She's there FOR A REASON - because so many bush-buddies/allies/apologists/appeasers got voted OUT. And the survivors have noticed this. Hell, it's hit 'em over the head as though it were a flailing 2 x 4. And they're undoubtedly noticing how the rest of the country has quite vocally gone that way, too. And the media's asking more questions. And cheney's probably popping antacids and anti-diarrhea meds and heart pills like they were M&Ms. And the angry emails keep coming to Jack Cafferty - who reads them on the air. And Keith Olbermann's ratings keep going up - putting him on the air on MSNBC a lot more frequently. And one-by-one, members of the Rolaids crowd at the White House are gonna be giving up the ghost and jumping ship to save their own skins. And more and more, the death toll and the carnage and violence and chaos in Iraq - all - keep increasing. And THAT'S all on the news. Every night.

Every day and every night, we gain a little bit more ground. Did you think we'd be positioned where we are, now, on this last full week of January 2007, back where you stood during the last full week of January 2006? Or during the last full week of January 2005? Remember the sense of desolation and overwhelm back then? Well, stop for a moment and just consider, as objectively as you can, HOW MUCH HAS CHANGED IN THAT TIME!!!

And try not to feel powerless. You aren't. We've come pretty damned far! No time either to get complacent OR to give up! Take heart! I have been feeling a stronger sense of "the realm of the possible" for weeks now. It's really reinvigorating! There finally is hope. Finally!

7. The more history I read...
the more I realize how far buried beneath their mountains of shit we are. And I'm, personally, getting very discouraged at the idea of being able to climb out from under it. We've been under their reign since JFK got blown away.

8. That's the problem with the power of the purse
It's not a scalpel, it's a club. And a slow-moving one at that.

The money for the Military has already been appropriated until the next fiscal year. Congress would have to go back and re-write the 2007 budget and then Bush would have to sign it. By the time they got all this crap done it would be time to vote on the 2008 budget.

The fastest way to get these clowns under control is the simultanoius impeachemtn of both the president and the vice president. And even that would take some time to investigate, substantiate evidence, line up witnesses, issue an impeachemtn notice, try the case in the Senate, etc.

16. People Still Aren't Pissed Enough
I'll be curious to see how well this weekend's march is attended and covered. Seems like many are intent on letting others do the protesting cause "they have other things to do". Since most people don't have a member in the military or feel affects of this war directly, it's out of sight, out of mind. Why clutter their beautiful minds when there's a new season of American Idol to numb ones brainstem with. But then we've also been beseiged by a right wing propaganda machine that all but burried us and we're just starting the long climb back. We've come a long way in the past two years, but there's still a long way to go. Chin Up...while things are bad and there are tough and dark days ahead, at least there's some rays of sunshine around now that weren't here in 2004.

There was an anal-ysis that said that even if the House & Senate cut funding to the Iraq War, asshat and his cabal will find other ways to fund it...taking money away from domestic programs, if needed, or borrowing us deeper into debt to keep their vainglorious international adventure going. Also, funding cuts won't go to stopping military operations, but will first hit resupply and troop support (body armor and replacement equipment)...then into service for the troops and their families. The only way this insanity will end will be at the ballot box next year.

18. What the hell will it take?
To get enough pissed off people to put a stop to these maniacs? Maybe an economic crash, or another attack.

20. I'd Rather Not Find Out
My parents came up through the Depression and World War II and wore those years like a cross. I came of age during the Vietnam era and always "questioned authority"...because it was encouraged by my peers and was the right thing. I also grew up with the sword of the draft over my head...I knew people who went off to that ugly war and join in common cause with millions of others who were in a similar situation. That's not the case these days. The balance of the suffering is put upon the poor and disenfranchised who have little voice...especially if they have a Hispanic surname.

We are starting to see people get pissed off...that's what the elections were about...but the message still hasn't sunk into the beltway. Also, there are lots of people in powerful places profiting from this invasion and have tremendous influence inside the beltway that requires a similar counter-effort to negate. Our battle for hearts and minds will take longer, but I feel we're making great headway and that there will be lessons learned from these dark years that will make us a stronger and smarter country in the future. It's a shame things had to get this bad, first.

Now if you want people to get pissed off and into the streets...just mention re-instituting the draft...look at how it gets people all worked up around here.

Cheers...

17. Cheney has one foot out the door already.
The Libby trial will give us all the reason we need to impeach his despicable ass.
Both of them have pushed their luck too far and I think we will see Cheney go before this summer and Bush gone by this fall whether through impeachment or resignation.

21. I agree that it looks bleak
and that the bad guys have been running the show since at least November 22nd, 1963. BUT a friend of mine who grew up in a communist country said that even when the media is controlled by the criminal regime and the bad guys control the information -- sooner or later power of the people reaches critical mass and suddenly it's game over. With the internet and globalization it's now impossible for them to control the information. Think about it. Only 16% of Americans believe the official fairytale about 9/11. Two elections were stolen. This regime is so obviously corrupt and rotten to the core that I can't believe it won't implode. The military won't be on their side after the farce of Iraq. So it will be interesting to watch. From a position of relative safety ---- north of the border.

23. It is taking too long. It will last too long. But, a butt-load of investigations have just begun...
...and these will give legitimacy to what we've been saying for six or more years. The question is, by the time everyone is demanding their heads on a platter, will any of them be left uneaten by their cohorts?
