11. Agreed. After Carlin, he's by far my favorite observational humorist.

4. I felt that way when Vonnegut died.
So far, no one has replaced Kurt, and I suspect no one will replace George.

5. A sad day indeed. The media will sweep this under the rug, Carlin was too honest for them.
RIP George

6. "The Insider" praises Russert. It will ignore Carlin.
Carlin hated phonies like our present entertainment media. In response, they'll briefly note his death, and then go on to covering one of their own media whores, Tim Russert, with even more pointless stories.

10. I remember his support of *bush in the
pre-war rhetoric was 24/7. I'm just saying, he didn't see it in the beginning, yet, he did for the past 4 years.

Rest in Peace George Carlin.

14. I recall he had an HBO special right after 9/11, and toned it down. However, when did he "support?"
Perhaps it's true, but I'd like to see something that verifies it.

16. Do you have any evidence of that?
I can't remember him ever showing support for this administration (or any, for that matter). As the above poster mentioned, he did change the name of his HBO special after 9/11 (I believe it was originally called "I Kind of Like it When a Lot of People Die"), but that's about it.

17. Exactly. He wasn't one to publicly support even the lesser of evils re politicians...
So I'd be highly suspect of any claim that he supported these War Pigs in any shape or form.

Did you see my post in the other Carlin thread where he questions the validity of the official explanation of 9/11?

19. Well, I certainly recall the feelings of sadness and disappointment
when he was on say, Leno and Letterman after 911. I had hoped at that time and space that he would be a voice of reason then...he was not. Indeed, he did finally learn that *bush was not a real cowboy and spoke out against the hypocrisy.

No links or evidence. Just my word.

18. What about each and every one of us?
I do similar things in grocery stores and other public places where I am able to strike up a conversation, and with the same amount of energy as George Carlin (though not quite as much as Lewis Black).
