3. Happy solstice and blessed be to you!
There was a party at Stonehenge last night. 25,000 attended. We just might have a balefire tonight and celebrate. Have a great season!

13. Not happy for me.
Going on to a third day of temperatures between 100 and 110. No one has air conditioning because it's usually fairly cool here even in the summer time. We are all wilting. We need rain and lower temperatures. It's too hot to cook for a feast, have sex or be merry.

31. I go to Catalina as often as I can
You live in Avalon? Usually when I go over it's with my friends and they moor their yacht up at the Isthmus. There's some great diving at Catalina.. do you dive?

Happy Summer Solstice :hi:

Peace, Joy, Sex, Being Grateful for what you have and for what you don't have, Appreciate, Laugh, Remember to Always Have Fun no matter what you're doing, and most of all.... Blessings Everyone

36. I live on my boat.
During the winter, we spend a lot of time mooring in Avalon (it's buy 3 days, get 4 free and there are not many tourists). For the summer, we will divide our time between the isthmus, cat harbor, little harbor and traveling to some of the other channel islands. I don't dive, but I love to snorkel.

Happy Summer Solstice to you :hi:

41. If your husband is crazy obsessed about diving
and you live in So Cal... then why hasn't he been to Catalina? heh heh

We usually moor at the Isthmus then take the whaler around to different areas around the island. My boyfriend, a marine biologist, just did some dives (some work related and some fun dives) last week on the back side of the island and he said the kelp forests are thick and fabulous and the water temp has come up considerably.

I've dived mostly from Avalon on up and even though I haven't had the experience (yet) to dive around the world I know many people that have and they say Catalina is as good if not better as anywhere they've been. Except Fiji, that seems to be the ultimate for most divers.

But diving Catalina is awesome. He, and you, should really go.

Thank you for the sentiment.

Be merry. I may have to work on that one. Solstice is the best reason to do so.

Thank you for the reminder.

26. I went to the annual Summer Solstice Parade in downtown Santa Barbara. Best parade in the country.
Just google for it and you'll get a lot of photos (I don't have a clue how to post them, sorry).

It's been going on since 1974 and is an artistic and creative blowout. The Sun blazes down on the drummers, dancers, sparkly non-motorized floats, and the onlookers.

There are some who say (darkly, of course) that it Ought Not To Be Allowed because of all those Pagan Elements. :spray:

Bright Blessings!

Hekate

40. Yeah, and that atrocity called Christmas (the rip-off of Winter Solstice)
is just fine and dandy with these anti-Pagans.

Ugh.

33. Happy "Mid" summer
My favorite paradox...the solstices are refereed to in tradition as Midsummer and Midwinter, even though the hot and cold peaks come about 4 to 6 weeks later in most temperate climates.

Here in Oregon, the winter solstice really is getting close to the deepest part of our winter...but at summer solstice our summer is just beginning! We have long springs and short autumns.
