Life immitates Art: Oh Brother Where Art Thou?

For the ones who have seen this great movie about Americana of the 30s - it ends with the validation of the blind seer who predicted that they will see a cow on a roof. Sounded crazy, until the valley was flooded.

Yesterday, when I saw those hapless pigs on the roof of a barn in Iowa, or Illinois, I could not help but being reminded of that great scene in the movie.

(Many of these pigs, apparently had to be shot..)

1. I can never remember how that movie ends.

It is one of the few (as in, maybe five) movies I have seen in the last 30 years, and I have watched it 3 or 4 times.

3. The three were pardoned by the governor

when he realized how popular they were and, also humiliated his rival.

They went back to the valley where "Everett's" home was to retrieve the wedding ring so that he could marry his wife again.

As they arrived, the police was waiting for them with nooses, ignoring the plea that the they were pardoned.

Just as they thought that they were going to die, the dam opened and the valley was flooded. The four of them - including the black guitarist - survived and as they were floating on whatever they could find, they saw the cow on the roof.

At the end, "Penny" claimed that this was not her ring, demanding that he go back and get her the original ring.

And then we saw the blind seer again, moving the rail cart.

4. Man, I don't remember any of that.

That's why I don't watch movies. I get really embarrassed when people want to talk about them and I can't remember anything but the sound track.

I quit driving for ten years because I have to write down directions to and from anywhere I go, no matter how many times I have been there.

And the State of California gave me a Driving License two weeks ago without me ever having to take a driving test.

If they only knew....
