If you want to see what a REAL journalist looks like and not just some rich talking head behind a desk, go watch this video. She is not only beautiful, but bright and outspoken. There have been 129 journalists die in Iraq since this occupation began, and to still be reporting there for 5 years is amazingly brave. If you have read or listened to any reports from there, you know how awful and harrowing it is to try to exist in that hell hole we have created.

2. This Is The Shame

During Vietnam, there were many intrepid reporters who would stomp into the jungles or into the cities...every night we'd see another battle or operation and the horror of that war became personal to millions. This invisible, dirty war for profit has been the opposite. It's intrepid people like Ms. Logan, Mike Engel and Michael Ware who are the rare few who have followed this travesty from the start but have to battle with all sorts of distractions and spin...who wears a flag pin, idol worship for a dead media celebrity, fears about gays getting married and so on...people don't want to see/hear about what's going on.

What is so gaulling these days is how Gramps parades around with his "surge is working" bullshit and refuses to see the world in any other light. Totally dismissive of anyone who presents him with reality. It was a ruse that worked to get the nomination and he thinks this same bullshit will work again. Ms. Logan exemplifies how empty this rhetoric is and how out of touch with the situation he is...no matter how many times he goes there for a photo-op.

Her most telling line was when Jon asked her about Pickles going to Afghanistan and Ms. Logan said how it's one thing to fly in for a few minutes as opposed to actually being in country and living the war. For so many this has become a photo-op, nothing more.

4. That was an incredible interview last night.

Too bad they only had a few minutes to talk. There was so much more she wanted to say about the situations in Iraq and Afghanistan--I felt like she could could barely contain her frustration and anger at US policies and at the media (it seems like many of her reports have never been aired).

telling question. She had a ton of them. What surprises me is that she still has a job at CBS. Normally not known for liking or keeping truth-tellers.

8. She's Bold

She just about opened up for interview by saying Laura Bush and other who talk about how many times they have been to Iraq only spend a short time there. She really is a great journalist and I wish people were able to see more of her. It is now my opinion that she should be the person to replace Tim Russert on Meet the Press. I realize she works for CBS, but NBC should hire her and let her do the show.

I really enjoyed watching the interview. She made a number of really good points. I hope that someday I will get to hear her give a speech and will have the opportunity to ask her some questions.
