Reuters: McCain admits "It can be “tough” to be proud of USA"
WASHINGTON - Republican presidential candidate John McCain admitted on Saturday it can be difficult at times to be proud of the United States.

“I’ll admit to you … that it’s tough in some respects,” McCain said when asked by a questioner at a town hall meeting how to be proud of the country.

“We have not always done things right and we mismanaged the war in Iraq very badly for nearly four years.”

McCain’s wife, Cindy, pounced on Michelle Obama, the wife of presumptive Democratic nominee Barack Obama, for saying in February that she was proud of her country “for the first time in my adult life.”

1. You know all Obama has to do is stay quite about John, McCain will end his own chances soon.
He will say something that will be the 'deal breaker' unless they cheat and throw him in, McCain has no chance.

...blah blah blah blah blah and he's a Republican and True Patriot."

just damn

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From here on in the press is going to take every single sound bite that can be used to piss off conservatives and push it in our faces. So much of it will be out of context. PLEASE, PLEASE let’s not fall into this trap and let the press manipulate us as well. I think we’re smarter than that.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now we know what it will be like if Uncle Fester here ever gets to run the country. I’m voting third party.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

He is making me sick. Obama, however, makes me want to throw up.

I would like to see all the incumbent republicans voted out next time.
(Me too, freeper, me too.)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"I think we’re smarter than that."
McCain Feingold. Enough said.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What a moron

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

His personal history isn’t all that much to be proud of either. Yes, he served in the military and was a POW. Other than that, he hasn’t done squat.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We can’t help it...it’s either RINO McCain or Hussein. Bob Barr is for the Libertarian Party so that’s another alternative.

7. No, it's more that he's just not all that bright a guy ...
... and doesn't really have the ability to think on his feet. (I wouldn't bet on his performance when sitting down, either.)

8. This is nothing more or less than the truth
He finally climbs aboard the "straight talk express" and now everyone is in a tizzy about it. Fascinating. At least it can be used to take the heat off Michelle for her candid remarks during the primary. What a nation. We don't trust politicians to tell the truth, we're always bashing them for not doing it, then when they surprise us occasionally by doing so, the sky is falling!

9. The tizzy is that his own wife attacked Michelle for it

10. Yes, Cindy's got *no* room to be throwing stones at Michelle
and hopefully that avenue of attack is going to be abandoned now that her own husband has expressed similar views. Frankly, I have always considered the hysteria generated by Michelle's offhand comment to be totally ludicrous and hypocritical. I'm also wondering how long it will be before the attacks and smears on Michelle open up the floodgate on Cindy and her not so pristine past... Ugh. It's not going to be pretty, but at least we'll know "who started it". :/
