Restoring Constitutional rule is going to be difficult
Edited on Tue Jun-10-08 12:57 AM by mmonk
in the current United States. As everybody knows, there's a lot of money to be made beyond salary in Washington. We have now, the Department of Homeland Security and of course, a corporate interest media. We have an exploding and expanding Surveillance Industrial Complex and a Mercenary Industrial Complex. I'm one of those that realizes many in government today are in it for self-interest and not public service. It's why I'm not optimistic.

1. Media Reform should be at the top of the list.
Once that's taken care of, fixing everything else becomes way easier.

6. A key step if we are able to make it.
But I've found out people from both parties are for sale. They control access.

9. The coming great depression either does that or acts like
disaster capitalism

Given history I am not too hopeful

Forewarned is a good thing, but how you warn people who are still watching Idol?

3. I think it's a lost cause
Much as I appreciate what Kucinich did tonight, it's disheartening to know he's the only elected official in this country who cares. The rest don't give a shit about the Constitution unless they think it will score them political points or win an election. I see no reason to think that will change regardless of what happens in November.

12. One problematic selling point to the Public to restore the Constitution:
How to get the public to accept the general feeling of being more safe in the philosophical sense versus the palpable sense that "Security" gives them right now. They have been sold a Bill of Goods that a document won't give them the illusion of safety from "terrorists" the way wiretapping, offshore prisons, and secret military trials do.

13. It can be done with just one honest MSM source
with reach or by elected representatives that put country first. I don't know which has the better chance to exist in the future. I do think that the constitution being taught in schools should be changed though since it is essentially a dead document now.
