Book TV watchers: Does any remember the title or author

of a presentation that was on last Winter featuring two NYC defense attorneys (a man and a woman) who sought out rounded up people that were being *hidden* from the justice system after 9/11 and defended them?

I can't for the life of me get the magic search terms. Iirc, the lawyers were not from the ACLU but from a NYC local group. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

The highlight of the presentation was that the woman attorney called HLS and was told that the president could detain anyone at any time for any reason?

Any help at all is appreciated!

which looks like a great read -- a response to security measures after 9/11 from the left's best thinkers -- but, I don't think this is the right title.

They filed an amicus brief in the Padilla case. The law firm I used to work at also participated in his defense. I think that's why I remembered them. They do good work.

8. Co-author Michael Ratner's sister, Ellen, appears almost daily on Thom Hartmann's show.

She was one of the group that traveled to Darfur with Thom about a month ago.

IIRC, Michael Ratner was one of the pesky folks trying to get Rumsfeld arrested in Germany earlier this year. Rummy left the country quickly and without notice.
