If you've ever donated money to someone you couldn't vote for...
THANK YOU!! :applause: :yourock:

We live in a very poor district, we've had mills close down (I'm in NC) on one end, soldiers whose lives are being used on the other and we are working so hard to get rid of the people who are doing Bush's bidding.

Our county party has been building up a grassroots effort to be a part of that change and we worked like crazy to get a great Democrat in the House in '06. We were using the same dedicated people (locally) for donations and had to get by the best we could. Larry Kissell is the candidate and he was not getting very much love from National groups. He didn't have a glamorous campaign so we watched as money went to the star Democratic Brother (Shuler, NC-12) and Kissell was looked over often. We knew just from hearing his passion and plans for us that Kissell was the real thing (here's his web page to give you an idea www.larrykissell.com). We did the best we could with what we had and Kissell, himself, passion for change, and grassroots efforts got him within only 300 points of winning.

Fastforward to '08; I had the pleasure recently of stuffing envelopes with his thank you letters from a fundraiser. I was pleasantly surprised to see so many letters addressed to people outside of our state, it honestly choked me up to see that others who won't have an opportunity to vote for him see the potential and promise he has for our district. For people who are low on cash but filled with a passion to see him elected, it is very much appreciated when we get help like this. I just wanted to let you know how much a difference you do make if you've ever donated to someone you won't be able vote for.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

1. I supported Kissell in 2006. He's a great candidate
I supported a dozen out of state candidates in 2006 which I really believed in.
He was one of them

2. Thank you so much!!! After each of his speaking events in '06 I would
say to the people around me that if we could just get everyone to listen to him speak once, he'd have no problems.

Did you hear about him from one of the dem blogs that were working to get more dems in the house and senate?

4. I was following a lot of dem blogs in 2006
so yes, I found out about his from them.

I had a bit of extra money that year and decided to invest in democratic candidates where it looked like a little more financial help might help swing that election. I'm not sure which site I found him on particularly. Swing state project might have been it. I believe it had the pulled together the financial contributions and poll data and website links so it was easy to use. Act Blue was also doing a great job.

I think about half of the candidates I supported (none incumbents) actually won.

3. I'm glad you're engaged
though I have a different perspective than you on money.

I think all campaign contributions should be limited to voters eligible for that election.
(to me this means no money from corporations or companies because they can't vote)

It seriously steamed me to watch Arnold going to New York to fund raise for a California gubernatorial campaign.

but... in absence of that sort of restriction on corporate money guess it's only fair

7. No, we have the same perspective on money...
Especially after I saw us scrambling the best we could against a corporate funded, lie and hate-filled campaign against him. I believe there should be campaign reform. It is disgusting and ridiculous that people who make money off of sending those soldiers I mentioned to war, could pump money into the campaign of someone (Kissell's opponent) who is quoted as saying that Hussein was directly involved in 9-11.

Until laws are in place to make changes in campaign financing, I can only find relief in help from outside sources.

was in my high school class and I knew the truth about him long before he finally slipped up publically. To me getting him out of elected office was personal.
