The General Election: A Democratic Map to Victory.
Edited on Wed Jun-04-08 04:16 AM by papapi
Go Obama '08!

The Washington Post offers this interactive map for calculating the Electoral College vote in November.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/politics/interactives/campaign08/electoral-college/

Here's one possible scenario.

On this map Virginia provides 13 votes to put Obama over the 270 needed to win.
Obama has Governor Tim Kaine, Former Governor Mark Warner and Senator Jim Webb backing him in Virginia.

Go Obama '08!

Another map with many 2008 swing states in play.

Go Obama '08!

1. No, no, NO!
We do NOT give up Wisconsin. We do NOT give up Iowa. We do NOT give up New Hampshire. Colorado and New Mexico are within our grasp. Possibly Nevada. Missouri is a bellweather state that has voted for the winner nearly every time - it MUST be contested VERY STRONGLY. And of course Florida needs to be hotly contested as well - they should not be allowed to continue disenfranchising the minority vote.

3. I'm not saying give up ANYTHING. Just saying it may be easier than some people think.

I think we need to fight for every conceivable state victory. Overreact much?

12. Unfortunately, I think Florida is a write-off
Although I agree that we should fight for every vote and every voter, I think Florida is just a lost cause until the corruption at state level can be systematically dismantled. That could take years, and I hope the state Democratic machine is up to the task.

14. Also, after Katrina and the bungling by the Bushes, LA and MS have to be in play
to be honest I can't believe they're not polling better presently.

And I want Alaska!!!

8. I added another map. Check it out. That would pound McLame in the dust.
And it IS entirely possible, I believe.

13. Better yes, but I think NC, SC and AK are in play too!
And I'd like to see TX change sides, though I'm a little less optimistic about GA and AZ, but hopeful!

11. That First Map is Pretty Amazing
So many swing states could go Republican and Obama could still win. The new battleground looks like PA OH and VA.
