For all you Bird Lovers, we have something special going on in Ohio...
AND now for something completely different:

Just click on the link and you can watch the Columbus Peregrine Falcons via a live web cam. "Scout" the mom, and "Orville" the dad, are raising their four chicks, who turned two weeks old yesterday. This project is giving birders and researchers around the world an up close view of the process from egg laying to fledging. We are having a great time watching, monitor it all the time...even grabbed some cool screen captures today. There are interesting links to the other Falcon Nests around the state, and blogs about project. Please check it out, you will enjoy it too, and turn the sound up so you can hear the babies and the WIND!

5. I like the four views....
but only still is not as much fun. We really like the shirts and stuff, wish ODNR would do that.

9. I agree--not as much fun.
But a blessing of sorts when something awful happens to one of the brood. Last year a big rainstorm blew into the nest box and killed one of the kids (chicks?). It was horrible to see--if it had been live I would have been screaming.

6. Hmmm, for a minute there, I thought you were talking about
the buzzards returning to Hinkley....but that occurs in March, if I remember correctly. Yes, I grew up in Ohio. :hi:

12. we live in Stow....
just a hop and a skip over to Hinkley. Wondering if you knew the reason they come there every year? It is an awful story, will do a little research for the year it happened and post again later.

7. To add to the enjoyment here is a bald eagle nest cam
http://www.suttoncenter.org/eaglecam.html

Our Bald Eagle nest cam provides an intimate view of a wild Oklahoma Bald Eagle nest. Children and adults from
Oklahoma and around the world can observe life in an eagle nest, and scientists can make observations that will
help us better understand the life history of our national symbol.

This nest is on OG&E property at Sooner Lake near Stillwater, Oklahoma. The original dead nest tree used by this pair of eagles fell down. OG&E,
with technical assistance from the Sutton Center, erected an artificial tower which these eagles have adopted successfully.
For additional information about nesting Bald Eagles, scroll down this page.

11. wow....
thanks, this is really cool to see, too bad about the other camera, but we will keep it in mind for the next go around. We have quite a few bald eagles here now in Northern Ohio, along Lake Erie and also inland by Lakes. We were wondering why they look so funny...then we realized we were looking at the Babies! Thanks again, and keep us DU'er's up to date, will ya?

17. hey ya, they were back in March...
the story goes they had a hugh hunt back in the 1800's by forming a giant circle of men with guns. They all moved together toward the center and the center of the Circle was Hinkley, they killed everything...bears, wolves, coyotes, etc. and the rotting carcasses attracted the Buzzards.

Right now I see only one baby in the nest...

Check out www.palemale.com for info and pics of the falcon that hangs out on the Westside of Central Park, He has had several mates and lots of chicks.
Last I knew, there were no livecams, but there are some incredible photos!

The story of Pale Male and his family has been in headlines and the news for years now. It is quite amazing.

I find these wildlife cams to be very calming when I am stressed out...and who isn't after witnessing 7+ years of this lunacy?

Something else I do to relax is to go to youtube and search "laughing baby". Guaranteed to make you smile. Especially this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cXXm696UbKY

:hi:
