David Brooks on The NewsHour: If McCain really knew anything
Edited on Fri May-23-08 06:51 PM by Ilsa
about Rev. Hagee, they would have realized he's not important to evangelicals and would have stayed far away from him begin with. And that is his real problem with the religious right.

2. I heard Brooks and what he said was McCain's campaign staff
did not know what Hagge represented but all they KNEW was if Haggee wanted to support McCain, ok by them.

Later Mark Shields added that McCain was completely outraged in 2000 when the Bush campaign used the religious right as they did. So McLame KNEW WHAT and WHO HAGGEE was regardless of Brooks trying to defend the McLame campaign.

3. how the hell does brooks know?
brooks is mouthing blaaaatitudes designed to accentuate the positive- rev hagee is a nobody, which only says john mccain is naive for thinking otherwise, and aint naive guys, like that overly idealistic junyer bush fella, so darn cute? All they need is ...well I'M available, if mccain wants to fix the tiny problem (having no solid link to the fundy right) he clearly has...
There's something cooking, you can feel it. And brooks meanwhile, waste's everybody's time. And gets paid very well to do so...

5. Anyone who is running for President...
...at all seriously, has staff to research people's backgrounds. That is: people who want to work for you, and high profile endorsers.

So either McCain and his staff are incompetent, or they knew who Hagee was and thought they would get a pass like all Republics have gotten a pass for the past 8 years. Only this time it didn't work that way.

Boo hoo.
