why would the saudis sell us more oil at $130/bbl, if they can sell it to us later for twice that?

why would the saudis sell us more oil at $130/bbl, if they can sell it to us later for twice that?
the longer they keep it in the ground, the more valuable it gets.

provided we don't do something sneaky and underhanded like developing alternatives or something.

1. I always felt the same way about ANWR
stupid to use our resources while there were cheap resources other places in the globe

4. When my parents asked why oil was getting so expensive
this one of the reasons I gave them. Why pump 200,000 barrels a day, when you can pump 100,000 barrels a day for the same profit, less wear and tear on your equipment and their field will last twice as long. Oil companies do not care what your personal problems are, they are only interested in their bottom line. Sad but true.

who wrote a report analysing oil production and supplies for the department of energy (funded by taxpayers -- not oil companies) on CNBC explaining the high oil prices. Link contains cnbc interview and a link to the "Hirsh Report" pdf.
