Get wounded in Iraq? bush, "It is their fault they volunteered"
Q In Iraq I recently met a soldier. He was medevac'd out on his first tour; he's now back on his second tour -- was already medevac'd to the green zone. How many more tours do these soldiers have to do? Is there an exit strategy for Iraq?

THE PRESIDENT: Well, first of all, the fact that this person volunteered .....

1. what comes after volunteered...?
the fact that this person volunteered and didn't have an influential father that got him transferred to Alabama to work on a political campaign. And then go AWOL, but suffer no punishment because of the important position his father held is his own damned fault.

I'm not sure that's what it said, but I know that was what DUH-bya was thinking.

2. what comes after volunteered...?
Stop loss or cross-service transfer. Many Navy sailors and AF airmen have been pulled from their ships and AF bases to become Iraq infantry or support Troops. That is NOT what they volunteered for.

This is what we get when we let 2 yellow bellied draft dodging cowards like Dumbya and Cheney steal an election.

5. That was the point where I posted the link
The war criminal didn't even acknowledged the forced second and third tours for military people who were clearly not mentally or medically fit.

15. Seems hatred of the troops is widespread in the Republican party.
What was the flap yesterday about Republicans all over the internet saying the troops are paid assassins and murderers?

Something about Keith Olbermann commenting on Bush co hiring Blackwater people to murder unarmed Iraqis and the Pukes said only the troops do that?? ???

7. So, by that 'logic', any future draftees can't be killed or wounded in combat?
Welcome to Bush World, leave your cognitive abilities at the door.

9. Oh God. It's always bash Bush time here
You all seem to be forgetting the fact that he gave up golf for these troops. Well, gave it up 2 months after he claimed he did, and he did so for unrelated medical reasons but in his mind, he gave up golf for the troops. Such an act of solidarity deserves our respect. I myself have given up expressos and am sticking to regular coffee to show solidarity with the troops. Hell, I might even give up my blue ray player and go back to regular DVDs.

:sarcasm:

12. I personally have switched from liquid creamer to powdered creamer in support of our troops.

I believe all Americans should follow the example of our leader and support our troops in such meaningful fashion.

Edited to add further thought on further sacrifice: If the war continues another five years I will switch from wearing pierced earrings to wearing clip-ons.

THE PRESIDENT: Well, first of all, the fact that this person volunteered again speaks to the great bravery of our troops. And we need to honor them and will honor them. And one way to do so is to have more set tours -- in for 12, out for 12.

The other thing is to take care of their families, and when the veterans take care of the vets. You know, the fact that you told me about a guy who got medevac'd twice only says to me that we've got a courageous military.

-----------------------------

He seems to be referring to revolunteering. I don't know much about the military or stop loss, and wouldn't be suprised if this guy was forced to go back out.

FTR, the GOP blocked an attempt to cut troop rotation and increase R&R in the senate when Jim Webb supported them. So bush's statements of 'in for 12, out for 12' makes no sense.

Why do people still like and support him?
What happened to the news media in this country?
