KC may soon have War on Terror memorial

BAKERSFIELD - Kern County may soon have a memorial to honor local people killed in the War on Terror.

Though it's only an idea at this point, the Fallen Patriot Heroes in the War on Terror Memorial seems to be catching on.

"It's important that we don't forget about those people and their families giving them a place to go and mourn here," said Genine Flores. "It's probably a good idea."

Bulls envisions a reflective pool with a 100 foot flagpole surrounded by bronze figures standing eight-feet-tall.
...

"We must all come together," said Jeffrey Goins from the Sons of the American Legion. "This is a critical time in history and if we don't come together then our way of life can be in jeopardy."

Not everyone supports the idea, but only supporters were willing to speak with KGET TV-17.

"I think it's an awesome idea," said Darren Blackwood. "I think it's something that needs to be done for society and the morale of the people.

2. Oh, good god....
The idea of a memorial is nice...no objection to that. You can't swing a cat by the tail without hitting a WWI memorial in France.

But a memorial for the "war on TERROR?" Lets hope someone lobbies them to change the name to something that sounds slightly less like a Fox News tag line.
