NY Daily News: Big shots aren't coddled at jail Vito Fossella may call home

ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Disgraced Rep. Vito Fossella is all but certain to go from the House to the Big House.

Prosecutors have vowed no deal for the two-timing GOP congressman, so unless he challenges the drunken driving charges against him and wins, he could find himself bedding down in a jail that has held a rogues' gallery of spies, terrorists and traitors.

Once in the Alexandria lockup, 9 miles from Capitol Hill, Fossella won't get any VIP perks.

"There is no special treatment," Alexandria Sheriff Dana Lawhorne told the Daily News last week. "There are no bonus points or upgrades because you're a congressman."

I like to think of it as a "Fact Finding Tour" of the criminal justice system...

Signs Fossella May Run Again Unnerve G.O.P.

Mr. Fossella, a Republican who was arrested in Virginia on May 1 on a drunken driving charge and then admitted to fathering a child out of wedlock, is leaning toward running for a sixth term in November...(T)hough he canceled a fund-raiser scheduled for this past weekend, he has five or six events planned for the coming month...(H)e marched in the Memorial Day Parade...(and)...was greeted warmly...

If convicted of drunken driving, he would have to serve a mandatory five-day jail sentence...

3. And The GOOP Still Expects Him To Run?
His running all but ended the moment he ran that stop sign with a .17 BAC!!! It wasn't the illigitimate kid or the cheating on the wife that is the story here (even though that's what the corporate media loves to delve on), it's the fact this dude could have killed someone behind the wheel...and if he had done it that night, imagine how many other nights he was out on the roads in the bag...and then equate that to the judgement one would hope a representative would have.

Doesn't anyone remember the South Dakota rep who killed someone? Aren't the GOOPers the supposed party of "family values" and law and order?

The fact that Boner hasn't drummed him out yet says how desperate he and his corrupt party are of holding onto any seat that they have...before they have their asses handed to them. Vito's future deserves to be in the can...one less drunk behind the wheel.

4. The Daily News is making an awful lot of hay out of a mere 5-day sentence. The
real question is beating Fossella out of his Congressional seat.
