"Prison Tycoon" most disgusting video/computer game ever
You read right: Prison Tycoon.

You get to play the part of a warden in a for-profit prison. You start out with a joint that's like a county lockup, and you work to become warden of a Supermax.

WHO THINKS OF THIS FUCKING SHIT!!!

16. Okay, I started it...
...everyone is welcome to join in and make fun of this horrific idea.

Objective

The object of Prison Tycoon is to increase your state's population to give your political party more representatives while incarcerating more people who are less likely to vote for them!

The winner is declared when there are no longer any opposing view points and your political party has a permanent majority at every level of government!

13. There's shit...
...you shouldn't do.

I am just jealous now that I didn't think of this game first.

I wouldn't make a real one, but make a fake one to show the absurdity of it all.

6. It's pretty bad, but I think another video "game " that I saw on sale at Wal-Mart was worst.
Edited on Sun May-18-08 07:33 PM by Up2Late
It was called "Riot Police" and the object of the game was beating down "Hippie Protesters."

What Fun!

Check out the screen captures from February 10, 2004 <http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/riotpolice/images.html?om_act=convert&om_clk=gsimage&tag=images%3Bimg%3B1&page=2>

"Riot Police is one of those games that are usually more fun in theory than in practice. This real-time strategy game requires you to use different police units to quell angry mobs. Using nonlethal weapons, you engage in running battles with incensed union activistsenraged student protesters, wild football fans who rampage after a game, and more. You'll have to take crowd psychology into account or you'll do more harm than good if you use the wrong tactics and whip outraged bystanders into a frenzy. On paper, this game features some neat ideas, but control problems, micromanagement, and other flaws often make Riot Police a lot less fun than it could have been...."

10. I'll tell you "so."
"Prison Tycoon" is rated "E for Everyone." I mean, it's a fairly tame game, as games go. Somehow I think they left out the parts about pruno. It's The Sims with bars. So you give it to your kids.

And your kids play it, and learn that Prisons for Profit is perfectly okay. Which they're not.

23. Another message is...
...that incarceration is normal and there are some people who belong in prison and some people who deserve to "rule over them".

Very nasty this game is.

14. But who plays those games?
Kids do; Who are extremely impressionable. A game like that or GTA for that, have real life scenarios in them and we do not need kids going around with those kinds of ideas in their heads.

It is one thing to kill a monster, a fantasy game is completly different. Putting people vs people in a real scenarios is not good.

27. Actually it is mostly adults that play them...
Most games are being bought by men in their twenties and thirties, there are actually far more adult gamers than there are kid gamers. GTA is rated M meaning that stores are not supposed to sell it to you if you are under 17, and I don't know if you have actually played the game but it is not all about violence and sex like the media portrays it as being. It is actually filled with very humorous but thoughtful political and social commentary, I can almost guarantee there are some things in Grand Theft Auto that you would find some merit in.

As far as Prison Tycoon, I see a bit more of a problem because that is rated E meaning that it is supposed to be appropriate for even young children. Granted the content is more likely to appeal to adults so probably not many kids will play it, but it certainly doesn't look like a game that should be rated as being appropriate for children.

30. At least games like GTA are rated "Mature" with explicit warnings on the front
I don't know what parent in their right mind would purchase a game like GTA for their kids, especially when it tells you the game contains graphic violence, language, sex, etc and is rated "Mature".

Meanwhile, make sure that your candidate and Joe Lieberman keep going after games like Grand Theft Auto, Halo, and other "murder simulators".

28. Wake up and take a look in the mirror...
..., that this game (one of many) holds up to US society.

That you personally are appalled by this game, GTA X and any number of others of similar ilk is small comfort, when the last several years (decades) have conclusively demonstrated that a very significant proportion of US citizens are perfectly happy with (and can be swayed by) the idea of gaining personal advantage (no matter how illusory) by smacking "the other guy" down.

Universal health care, minimum wage, workplace safety, reproductive rights, environmental protection, etc., etc. All of these critical matters have been defanged, if not outright euthenaised, by convincing enough voters that they somehow would personally be negatively affected if such reforms were allowed to proceed.

It matters very little that any number of electoral races were stolen to put the country where it is today. What matters far more is that sufficient dogs to fill the mangers exist, that such thefts can take place at all.
