For my wife and those in situations like hers
Edited on Fri May-16-08 10:21 PM by The Straight Story
When each day is a battle, and your body fights against you
And hope seems like a dream of the past

When you feel trapped in a body that won't let you out
sometimes you just want to cry

I found a simple picture for you tonight
That reminds me of when you said you wish you could just fly

So stretch out your arms, and I will mine
and together my sweet we will take to the skies.

7. As soon as I saw that pic that poem came to mind for me
Sometimes I feel like I am flying, while she sits on the ground with her wings spread trying.

9. Has she ever tandem jumped?
Not that it is the answer. It's just an experience. I'm too chicken to try it.

Marvelous OP. Fabulous picture.

10. She has thought about it
She is not in a wheel chair (yet) - Parkinson's takes it's time.

Nut we have talked about her skydiving before. Now that I have a job we might be able to pull it off this year.

13. Best wishes to you both. My (82 yo) dad has Parkinsons. He recently changed
doctors, and the new told him to stay on the same med, but spread the dosing out over the day. It made a HUGE difference in his motor skills. I noticed it right away. Moral of the story is that some docs are better than others. But I bet you already knew that.

15. Did he fight early on a lot with
being tired all the time, weak, etc and so on? My wife is just plain worn out most days. But has some really good ones too.

It's like having the flu 90% of the time. Just plain wiped out.

16. Yeah, lots of sleeping. He's lost alot of weight too.
It may help down the road if he is unable to care for himself.

18. My wife's family just does not get it....
They are always asking why she is so tired, she needs to go to the dr, etc and so on.

And then it ends up making her feel bad about herself. I don't think they understand what the word 'disease' means. Maybe because it is not like a broken leg you can see in a cast or something. If you can't see it, then it is not affecting you.

I hear it is a normal part of Parkinson's, one of the reasons I think Michael J Fox left Spin city was he was so wiped out all of the time.

Good to be able to talk to someone else who knows someone with it. Thanks again for taking the time to reply.
