A new name for the GOP's presumptive nominee: McLobbyist.
It seems Mr. McCain is going to have a lobbyist problem.

Not long ago, he was (wink, wink) denying rumours about an alleged affair he may have had (nudge, nudge) with a blonde, female lobbyist!

The New York Times uncovered some titillating (heh, heh) details about Mr. McCain and Ms. Iseman, which were promptly dismissed as sordid.

The GOP-controlled press complied, and promptly gave up the reporting.

Now, it seems, Mr McCain knows a few more lobbyists, and these ones are boys!

The news from California today that The Gheys will be allowed to marry notwithstanding , McCain is 100% republican public male and would never do anything sexual with these gentlemen. Corrupt maybe, but sexual, no.

From a February story in Talking Points Memo, we find Mr. McCain knows many lobbyists:
-- "His campaign manager, Rick Davis, co-founded a lobbying firm whose clients have included Verizon and SBC Telecommunications."

-- "His chief political adviser, Charles R. Black Jr., is chairman of one of Washington's lobbying powerhouses, BKSH and Associates, which has represented AT&T, Alcoa, JPMorgan and U.S. Airways."

-- "Senior advisers Steve Schmidt and Mark McKinnon work for firms that have lobbied for Land O' Lakes, UST Public Affairs, Dell and Fannie Mae."

-- "McCain recently hired Mark Buse to be his Senate chief of staff. Buse led the Commerce Committee staff in the late 1990s and early 2000s, and was until last fall a lobbyist for ML Strategies, representing eBay, Goldman Sachs Group, Cablevision, Tenneco and Novartis Pharmaceuticals."

-- "McCain's top fundraising official is former congressman Tom Loeffler (R-Tex.), who heads a lobbying law firm called the Loeffler Group. He has counseled the Saudis as well as Southwest Airlines, AT&T, Toyota and the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America."

My, my, my.

It seems Mr. McCain is not such a big straight-talking maverick after all.

How long will it take for this story to bake in the summer sun and how long after that will there be a terror scare to distract from it?

Only your telecom lobbyist knows for sure!
