McCain: "MOST Troops Can Be Home From Iraq By 2013"
Yeah, John, 5 more years of carnage. This is a sales pitch that America will just loooove. Idiot.

====

John McCain, looking through a crystal ball to 2013 and the end of a prospective first term, sees "spasmodic" but reduced violence in Iraq and Afghanistan, Osama bin Laden dead or captured and government spending curbed by his ready veto pen.

Outlining his vision for Iraq, McCain said that "by January 2013, America has welcomed home most of the servicemen and women who have sacrificed terribly so that America might be secure in her freedom."

1. The Surge is working!
That's why we need to stay in longer!

Nah, the war will be over. John McCain said so.

3. lying, pandering bastard
he has NO IDEA how long it will take to establish whatever the hell it is he thinks is a level of stability that would allow us to bring troops home.

These people may keep fighting each other as long as, oh, let me see, who are those folks on the Eastern end of the Mediterranean? Oh yes, the Arabs and Israeli's. How long has that been going on? Sixty years you say? Gee, how about that!

There is not a benchmark to set that will "allow" us to withdraw. We just need to fucking WITHDRAW!

The Sunni's in Al Anbar have demonstrated that they can crush AKI if they so choose. The puppet government has demonstrated it does not know its ass from first base, but then, it is bush's puppet government, so what would you expect? Iraq can and will be as strong as it was under SH if it chooses to be. Hell, HE wasn't the power; the Iraqis were. He just gave them direction.

Iraq may stabilize and it may go to shit. Whichever it does, we need it to do it on its own. Odds are strong it would be the former. Another strongman or two will emerge who is greedy enough to want oil revenues for self-aggrandizement more than he wants martyrdom.
