Teacher accused of making kid unstop toilet with his hands

ST. GABRIEL, LA (WAFB) - Just one year after joining the Iberville Parish school system, an elementary teacher may be out of a job for a reason that could turn your stomach. 46-year-old Julie Landry was arrested Monday. She's accused of cruelty to a juvenile. WAFB talked with the parents and student who are making that serious charge.

Seven-year-old Trevor Williams says he used the restroom at school, but used too much toilet paper and stopped up the toilet. Trevor's mother says what the teacher made him do to unstop it is not only disgusting, but unimaginable.

"Trevor, you go up in there and you unplug it. Then, told him next time, if you do it again, she gonna make him pull it out with his teeth," says Alfrieda Williams, the victim's mother.

"I made the toilet overflow with toilet paper and poo," Trevor says.

The seven-year-old says his first grade teacher made him unstop the bathroom toilet at the school with his bare hands.

An affidavit we obtained states that Trevor's teacher, Julie Landry, intentionally forced the child to place his hand in a toilet containing human feces and urine. However, that's not where the embarrassment ends.

One wonders what her life, growing up, was like. I suspect that it was no bed of roses. We are what we learn at home.

That said, that teacher and her modified Ingolstadt Closet teaching techniques should never be near a child unable to beat the snot out of her in self-defense again.

which just proves we need FULLY TRAINED teachers, not people who failed at other professions so they decided they would try teaching.

That's the reason I decided to go ahead and post it.

There was a story last year about a teacher who made a kid clean up the bathroom floor with a paper towel. I got in trouble on that thread for a couple things. I did defend the teacher, plus I pointed out that we were going by the word of the parent. The school had not commented.

But this seemed different to me since they did arrest the teacher. Seems like they had to have some kind of grounds.

Do we know if this child or others in this school have been causing toilet stop-ups on purpose?

Kids have been known to intentionally mess up bathrooms.

If this was an innocent/accidental overflow, then the teacher over reacted.

If there's more to the story -- maybe not.

Making a kid scoop t.p. and fecal matter out of a toilet is unacceptable, regardless of the reason. If it was intentional, a) call the janitor, and, b) reprimand the child & contact the parents.
