Is it just me or does any one else get disgusted
when we see the Bush clan celebrating a wedding while they are responsible for the deaths of 4,000 americans and thousands and thousands of Iraqis who will never again enjoy family gatherings again, sorry but that fact does not make me proud to be an American

Then I won't be so disgusted.

6. Did you see Lions for Lambs
Redford's movie on the War on Terror, Tom Cruise does an excellent job of playing a chikenhawk republican loaded with rhetoric, your post made me think of that movie

4. Yes, but no where near as disgusted as I was over this:

"Those weapons of mass destruction have got to be here somewhere."

5. If I put myself in a position where I'd be exposed to it
I would get beyond disgusted. But my TV doesn't receive CNN, Faux, or any of the networks.

I watch MSNBC one hour per day on weekdays - you can probably guess what.

Other than that I only watch sports, some history, discovery and military channel shows, and movies.

7. Seeing the Cheney house and the interview with Meredith Vierra
had me in that mood. It was like watching someone fawn over a warlord or Kim Jong Il while they show you around the palatial estate. Obtained by the blood of others, but that would be disrespectful to point out to the host.

9. I never understood this "proud to be American" nonsense to begin with.
It's just a quirk that you were born into the US. It's like saying I'm proud to be born into a family with a history of cancer. They call it "patriotism," yet somehow they call it "nationalism" when others do it. Somebody wasn't looking in the mirror that morning, let me tell you.

13. I think it is possible to be
proud of the actions by my countrymen/leaders ("We did X, that makes me proud of us") but being proud of the luck that made you born an American has the same effect as praising your child for their looks rather than their achievements.

We use "I am proud/not proud to be American" as shorthand for "I am proud/not proud of the way my fellow country people behave."

It would be better to say "I am proud/not proud of America."

10. Nicely stated - no, it is not just you
I saw a picture in the local paper of "wedding gifts on display" which was at least 10 or 15 coffee mugs (filling the whole picture - there were probably tons more) with a heart shaped picture of the uncaring couple (I think the caption was a typo - I'm guessing they were favors). I wanted to puke. Its not just the dead people, its also spending all that money when there are people in this country who can't afford food thanks to the fascist policies of the Repukes. They really do rival Marie Antoinette for arrogance, hubris, and insensitivity.

11. Why would I?
Yeah, Bush/Cheney are ultimately responsible, but our idiot D-Allegedly Congress is complicit. They'd not be celebrating shit if our Dems had a spine.

Sorry, but I've been relegated to seeing the event for what it is. A young woman that is marrying a young man, neither of whom I care for, and therefore don't give a shit about. I wish them happiness, because I'm human. I wish them liberal children, because I'm a jerk and would find that funny.

But, responsibility...the Dem party owns a great deal of that.

12. whatever happened to leaders who fought in battle?
Aye like the kings of old! It wouldn't be so bad then. It would be bad, but at least they were there. Not toking up in the Oval Office or playing with crayons or whatever the fuck bush does on an average day.

14. The war is a poor people problem
and they do not give it a second thought. The rich have an incredible capacity to ignore things that are unpleasant.
