(spelling corrected)

Former President Bill Clinton was in New York-Presbyterian Hospital today undergoing tests for chest discomfort, sources tell CNN.

John King reports Clinton needs and will undergo heart bypass surgery. Ed Henry indicates the surgery may be quadruple bypass but that Clinton's general health is good.

Via Fox News we get this nugget of good will from the Republicans:

"Who knows? It could be the result of a successful Republican convention," said Rep. Vito Fossella, R-N.Y., of Clinton's chest pains.

Class act, there Vito, real classy.

Recent news about the only Republican Congressman representing New York City:

Representative Vito J. Fossella, the Staten Island Republican who was arrested on drunken-driving charges in Virginia last week, acknowledged on Thursday that he had fathered a daughter, now 3, in an extramarital affair. But he declined to address questions about his political future.

2. Ideally, he'd run for re-election, but that seems unlikely. NT
