I am incensed about them refusing a transplant

to the medical marijuana patient. I thing anyone who has signed on as a donor, and smokes a little(or a lot) of weed, should rethink their donor status and let someone know why ( you will not be considered if you smoke)

1. I don't think that's entirely true...

...but perhaps someone with more appropriate experience might clarify it for us? My impression is that the transplant panel at that particular hospital decided to interpret the broader rules against transplanting livers into "substance abusers"-- we both know how inappropriate that term is, but nonetheless it is the standard in this sort of case. Is it true that no regular pot smokers will be permitted to receive donated livers, or just that this particular review panel chose to make a conservative political statement by condemning a medical marijuana patient to die?

I don't mean to suggest that the decision wasn't awful. I was just wondering whether it really reflects a broader discrimination against medical marijuana patients within the liver transplant community or whether it was just the interpretation of this particular board trying to make a conservative political point. It's a terrible decision either way, no question.

although the rules are in place everywhere, they are not hard and fast. I can vouch for that
